I think Wino Junko was another song with that theme that Jimmy wrote. I really liked those songs. Tragic end.

Pigpen sang in 'Easy Wind' 3.5 years before his death. :(

Nah, the car crash he was killed in was in January 1967 and those didn't come out until 1969.

He's still very much alive (thankfully), but Loudon Wainwright III sang about his death in Unrequited

Jimmy McCulloch did write that, I forgot about that song. Make that two.

I know this has likely been mentioned in Spirit threads before, but the last original Spirit cd, "California Blues" (1996) contained the song "The River", which sure sounds a whole lot like Randy California foreshadowing his own demise just months after the release of the cd (as many know he died in Hawaii, saving his son from drowning in a rip tide).

The line 'Summer ends and leaves start dying' fortelling what part of the year Bolan was to die is spooky.

I'm surprised it took until page 3 for someone to mention this song. It was the first one I thought of when I saw this thread.

What John really sings in the instrumental interludes (where you mostly hear it as shhh) is "shoot me". Very eerie.....

Well, it's not a song, but I have always been struck by the cover photo on The Who - Who Are You, wherein Keith Moon is sitting on a chair marked "Not To Be Taken Away". The album was released three weeks before he was taken away.
