Gotta say that Yorick's and Bemagnus' accounts of the Hell To Pay and Demons Dance make me anxious for release next week. Can't wait!

I gotta say Demon's Dance frustrates me. It has all the potential to be one of those typical Macca bouncy piano classics, yet it isn't.
When I heard the sound check snippet of the track, I already got really excited for this one. The piano riff and the groove gave me the impression we could well be in for I'll Give You A Ring 2014 or Flaming Pie 2014. Just that little piano riff and the insanely catchy 'Demon's Dance' chorus vocals sounded so great.
Unfortunately, the rest of the song doesn't work or swing as much IMO. And yet the melody and chords on the sentence 'But but the feeling that's been building inside me' in the pre-chorus are so great! Classic melodic McCartney, that line. So what doesn't work for me? Structure wise, the song rambles IMO. Too many ideas. There's a verse, a pre-chorus, a chorus and then suddenly the catchy Randy Newman It's Money That I Love-like piano riff kicks in and the song kicks into full gear with yet another slightly different chorus. Then it isn't till a couple of rounds later that the Demon's Dance vocals come in. And then the song breaks down again and starts up. It's a very interesting song, chock full of great musical ideas and hooks and very rewarding with repeated listening. But if Paul had edited it a lot more, it could have been one of the standouts on New and the main single of the album!

Ahhh, not again this... It happened way too often with potential gold in the last 10 odd years. Sometimes he really need a firm soundboard. Where's Nigel when you need him.

I'm going to wait for my own ears to do the critique, i do believe
it was Yorick who likened 'Appreciate' to 'Ou est le soleil'?

Anyway, it makes no sense at all. Paul is the most humanist songwriter I've ever known.

C'mon...it isn't like that. The song is not a bouncy piano track in his tradition, but it turned out to be something completely different, that favours him as a songwriter. He's not repeating himself and I think the piano riff takes cool turns that makes the song very interesting.

Just a friendly suggestion -- but if you think you can add something new and significant to the debate, please, by all means...

When I asked him...you know, I didn't get what he was speaking about, I had no idea his mind was on that matter.

Don't worry, Claudio -- it's not you, and it's certainly not your grasp of the English language. Just Frank doing what he does... ;)
