Dang why cant they just issue a cd of the HD mastering? Always something..always something.

Just found a photo I took at Homer's Music in Omaha a few days ago. They still had a couple copies of the 2009 edition, plus the 2014 edition, so I took a photo of the back covers side-by-side:

So, to answer my own question, the 2014 version uses the cover art with the spiral notebook on the back.

The spines are virtually identical: SinatraComeFly.DSC_0043.jpg

For all we know, this might happen during the Sinatratennial. A hybrid SACD would be nice.

    From that write-up:
As ardent readers of this thread may recall, Audio, in their Febuary [sic], 1962, issue really liked the re-recorded stereo version:

I'll bet that store was every bit as middle-America record store charming as the name and location suggest!

Actually, it was pretty large and would have fit right in were it transplanted to Seattle or SF. (Dont' get me wrong: There are some charming, smaller record shops in Omaha, but Homer's is pretty good sized, well-organized, and wide ranging.)

That's only about half the store visible in the photo.

If you search for it in the US, the one you want has catalog no. CDP 7 48469 2 (bar code: 0 7777-48469-2 9).

Kind of a goofy side note:

Last night, I was riding in my wife's Camry, which has satellite radio, and we put on the Siriusly Sinatra channel for a bit, and they played the Concord dry-vocal mix of Sinatra's "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" from Ring-a-Ding Ding, followed immediately by the soup-upon-soup of "They All Laughed" by Tony Bennett. Unprovoked, my wife opined, "That echo is just ridiculous!" I have to admit, going between those two songs was quite the transition. o_O

Bless you, Bob. Like many of us I discarded the original CD as other re-releases came out. In my case it was when I got my hands on the UK Black Box. My friend Patrick Conlon emailed me that he got his hands on one of these and he could not believe the difference. (His previous experience was the Alan Dell version.) So I went to Amoeba today and found one for $2.99 in beautiful shape. That (along with the UMe WSH record) will be part of the 1st "Turn the Clock Back" cocktail hour of this waning year!

They could not have picked worse! That recording of Tony's is from his "I've Got to be Me" album from 1968. So this is latter-day Columbia mixing. It is a GREAT album except for Mr . Laico's heavy dose of echo. Why I say that they could not have picked worse is that between lines at one point Tony quietly smacks his lips...which turns out to be a mammoth wave of "SMACK!!!!!" on the recording.:realmad:

Bad wording...it was traded for future purchase at Amoeba. Listen, if I kept everything of his I ever bought I would need a warehouse for storage!

+1 Homer's is an excellent record store. Personally, I like Vinyl Rennaissance (two stores in KC, MO metro and a new one in Columbia, MO) better, but Homer's is no slouch.
