Love Time! As far as tanking at the registers in the US. I worked part time in a record store when this came out and remember reading a one page Billboard advert for Time going Gold. Not a total tank but also not the usual Platinum status they had for their last few albums.

Great! So that variable is removed. As has been said before, may have to build my own ELO I and/or II.

Great news! Just found a different ELO Disky CD issued the same year as "Best of...", 1996. It's called "ELO- Roll Over Beethoven".. how original!

I ran some EACs on three of the tracks common to both Disky's and the EACS are closely not equally level shifted, ranging from 6.72% to 6.84 louder. The track times on the common tracks are the same.

I am very happy about this find since it added Kuiama to my "built by Disky" ELO II project. Only missing From The Sun To The World now!

Both versions of, as Disky spells it, "Momma", sound the same to me but admittedly my system is mediocre. So, they both sound equally great. I scanned tracks lists of them both for reference.

Amazon: Amazon Disky + ELO search

What is recommended for Time? The Gastwirt cd or Palmaccio remaster? Is the remaster bright or compressed sounding?

I've searched a few threads now and can't find a definitive answer - does the Japan OTTD 25DP 1075
share the same mastering as the Gastwirt?

Gonna revive this old thread, hope people see this :help:
Could anyone provide peak levels or DR values for the Japanese CBS issue of No Answer (I think it's CSCS 6026)? Apparently that's the best version on CD?

In my opinion, the Palmaccio remaster sounds nicer. It has more body to it; the Gastwirt sounds thin in comparison. What tips the scales, in my opinion, is that the Palmaccio was apparently mastered from a lower-generation source (closer to the original source).

Some have said that the Palmaccio is remixed. The remaster/remix sounds compressed, but it still presents a fuller sound than the Gastwirt.

Time is relatively forgotten in Canada. The album charted at #7, but no one seems to remember it. The band's reputation seemed to disappear once the 80s arrived -- overshadowed by a lot of other artists.

A New World Record is a 2x Platinum album here. Out of the Blue was only certified Platinum. Discovery was certified 3x Platinum here by December 1, 1979. Time hasn't received any sales recognition in Canada. Interestingly enough, Secret Messages was certified Gold on September 1, 1983.

For those who have multiple versions of Balance of Power, which sounds the best? I'm starting to warm up to that album a lot (a huge fan of the others).

Those Austrian fatboys are nice indeed! Part of the high DR numbers for Secret Messages accounts for the fact it has pre-emphasis

I finally managed to pick one of these up for just a few pounds. Sonically, this is better than my early Jp for Europe and will be my new go to CD. Post #16 on this thread is a good comparison: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/elo-a-new-world-record-whats-the-best-cd-version.326153/

Thanks @carrolls for your recommendation. :)
