The CD sounds fine until you hear the vinyl. Those snorks sound like they're happening right in your living room.
i wish i had that one, but for now the cd will have to do. and hey, it's not like it destroys the music like it does on the old Absolutely Free disc.
I'm listening to Absolutely Free 2012 CD just now and what a difference from the Zappa Records CD (and my Verve LP which is sadly showing it's age). God, this is a tasty little sucker!
Just another Band from L.A. 2012 master. It was my first Zappa LP. I have finally gotten around to listening to this on CD and am glad I waited until after 2012.
A while back I listened to The sea The Ultimate solution from Sleep Dirt but now I opened up the iTunes folder to check what I got and choose RNDZL from Road Tapes before turning to Shup Up And play your Guitar - oops still playing Road Tapes (Montana / medley withPojama People etc)
I'm about to 'sit back and take in' "WAZOO"! I try to avoid having anything to do while I listen to it. Some might call this a non-constructive use of my time, but 'we dig it, don't we kids?'
I gotta be honest... I tried really hard to like Zappa, hes a cool guy and really out there. Plus as a guitarist he was always in guitar player magazine back in the day. But I must just be missing the point as I just can't get into it.
Lets Move To Cleveland from the MOTHERS OF PREVENTION LP. Though not an album i play much this track is ace , beautiful . I spun my original vinyl after recommendation from another thread .T'was a good suggestion.
Honestly, it took Captain Beefheart to get me into Zappa. I didn't really like his stuff until I listened to Beefheart, then played "Willie The Pimp" on repeat for a while. After that, I somehow fell under the whole "Original Mothers is the only good Zappa" spell, until I heard the "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore" series. I loved it all after that point. If you don't like "One Size Fits All" or "Hot Rats", you're probably not going to love anything else he did.
I might need to try again with your suggestions. I cant recall what I listened to it was so long ago. Thanks man
