That's in keeping with the term "walking dead" referring not to the zombies but the the survivors.

So gratuitous violence is only okay if it's against sub-humans?

  3. Doesn't seem very politically correct, does it.

For me, the violence onscreen mirrored what I read about in the papers during that first episode. I'm questioning how people were able to watch that scene and then be totally grossed out by the leg eating. It doesn't make sense.

Most people would be sickened by footage of a slaughter house. But most people like barbecued chicken. :)

And don't forget that the bbq scene was tempered by the fact that the group was complementing Bob on how much better he tasted than they'd expected. A little sugar always helps when delivering bad news.

When Hannibal Lecter cooked Eddie Izzard's leg, at least he had the manners to serve him some. And Izzard gave his compliments to the chef.

That was certainly part of the reason as well.

Watch the last Star Wars trilogy. Almost all of the on-screen violence is committed against non-human robots.

I kept doing the Monty Python sketch: "You could eat me leg!" "But it's a rather gummy leg!" Silly.

If they follow the comic books, Bob (the guy who lost a leg to cannibals) has an interesting plotline ahead in many future episodes.

I have to say, that might be the grossest shot so far in show history. I literally had to turn away from the screen on that one. But I think the point was to emphasize that the killers really did not kill at all about the victims -- it was just another day on the job. They weren't going to make a deal, weren't going to listen, nothing. Boom, dead, move on to the next one.

What makes me angry is that the Cannibals are actually out for revenge because their former prisoners blew up and burned down their camp! Well, jeez... this is war, right? Nothing personal.

Does he win a cookery competition by being both best chef and best ingredients?

Hey, it could have been worse: the cannibals could have told him, "hey, that's a-spicey meat-a ball!"

    (Old 1970s commercial reference.)

The cannibal leader has an interesting fate, and my memory is that he's gonna be around for a long time. But it'll be complicated.

IMHO, the show has to get darker as their situation grows grimmer.

Yes, no spoilers please. Even if the comics and the TV show aren't in exact parallel.

yes, but in real life the "Cannibals" would not have survived.

You have to wonder what happened to all of the livestock. Quite a few of the chickens, cows, and pigs probably starved to death, but those on more rural farms could still be alive.
