Munsters or Addams Family? My boy wants to know...

The Munsters

 

Munsters was the ripoff, but for whatever reason it made me laugh more. Nice comic acting from most of the cast overcame the corny scripts. Wonder if I'd appreciate the Addams Family more watching as an adult.

 

Addams Family for me. I always thought John Astin was hilarious. Both good though.

Wasn't the Munsters the first TV show to show a married couple in the same bed? Or is that an urban legend?

 

OK, I'm confused

 

Apparently not as confused as I am!

Meant to say, "Addams Family", obviously. Not the first time I confused the two in composing the post. Another factor is that, I started out wanting to say I preferred The Munsters, but after giving it some thought, I couldn't ignore the greatness of John Astin.

Somewhere, John Astin is laughing at me, and he doesn't even know who I am or why he's doing it.

I love both, but the Munsters come out on top for me. The comic chemistry between Gwynne and Lewis is amazing. Just saw a few episodes of The Addams Family on THIS network earlier and had a few laughs. Both make me laugh in a different way. I'm keeping the DVD's!!

As a kid it was Addams all the way.

The Munsters based on the funny characters and comedic situations resulting from taking a strange looking/acting family and throwing them into "normal" situations.

 

Munsters but, I adore the AF as well...

I was only about 11 years old but when Morticia walked in that slinky black dress my shorts got tight.

 

Herman as a Rock Star as well...nothin' muffins...

 

That's what I felt, even way back then.

 

Munsters - I thought Grandpa was great.

 

Munsters were better for the premise (Frankenstein has a family) and for pure slapstick, but Adams Family was MUCH better written and was a much edgier show. I don't think I can pick between them, it depends on my mood.
