Looking for a single streaming box that will do the following:

    Operate independantly of a computer
Read music files from a connected USB drive
Internal DAC capable of at least 24/192 from USB
    Internet Radio tuner
Controllable from an app (iPhone or iPad)
    Less than $1000

Is such a device available ?

I have read about several likely boxes, but many seem to have difficulty reading directly from a USB drive at 24/192.

I can assemble the above from various parts, such as a freestanding laptop with internal storage and connected to an outboard DAC, but I would prefer a more elegant solution.

    Thanks !

Thanks for the reply- but I can replicate the Pi setup using an extra laptop and outboard DAC. I am looking for a 1 box solution that requires a minimum of tweaking to reliably operate.

I can do it... but you also end up with a 7.2 amplifier.

If you can find a deal, the Marantz NA8005 checks all these boxes as best I can tell.

I dunno, the manual makes a lot of references to usb hard drives which it distinguishes from memory sticks. It can also read files from a DLNA compliant NAS if one wanted to get fancy.

But right or wrong, to me the question becomes "but how well?". Navigating large music libraries with a remote and a two line display seems tricky.

Definitely doesn't read NTFS... as for control I guess the tablet app would be practically essential.

I like this one- The Node seems to fit my needs more than the Vault. I checked some reviews and sound seems quite good. Price is affordable as well.

Other alternative seems to be the Cambridge Audio Stream 6 v2; but it is about 50% more expensive.

    Thanks !

Any alternatives to the Cambridge? Looking for a "warmer" sound. Everything else checks out.

I bought a Grace digital tuner for about $150. So far so good and I think a good value. However, it only decodes to 24/96 I believe. They will give you the same price as Amazon if you ask. https://gracedigital.com/shop/tuner/
