Is it sad / bizarre that I had already picked out what I'm going to buy in this sale months ago? (I had to miss the last one. Now I have monies!)

 

Not in the least. With the price of Criterions, the people that are foolish, are the ones paying more than they have to !
I got everything on my wish list at the recent Criterion Flash Sale ( 50% off SRP just like B & N), and only have one left...not yet released, but will be on 11/11, also my birthday.

 

This is going to be a VERY expensive sale for me as a lot of discs have come out recently that I will be looking to pick:

La Dolce Vita
Eraserhead
The Vanishing
The Innocents
L'Aventura

And a ton of others I am thinking on . . .

 

All the time I spend on here and this is my first thread! hurrah.

That is awesome! I'd love to buy the new Tati box, A Hard Day's Night, The Freshman, Eraserhead, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Life Aquatic, Nashville, and Foreign Correspondent.

 

These sales are the best! I have been waiting months for the Complete Jacques Tati Box and it just kills me to restrain myself from going out and buying it now.

But it lists for $124.95
During the B&N 50% off sale, it will be $62.50
My B&N Membership will take off another 10% bringing the price down to $56.25
And if I wait until they send me a 20% off coupon, it will be even further reduced to $45
That's a savings of nearly $80!

These sales are the best!

The Shooting / Ride The Whirlwind - Director Monte Hellman's 2 Jack Nicholson Westerns lists for $39.99, and Amazon just dropped the price to 29.99, but no dice. Come my birthday, 11/11, it'll be 19.99 ! 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

 

Ah Hell, I'm going to add My Darling Clementine too. I'll just want it later, after the sales are over, plus I'll get free shipping now.

Any word yet on how long the sale's expected to run this time around? I'm hoping it lasts until the 25th, so it will include the new releases Criterion has scheduled for that day.

I foresee taking Les Blank and Antonioni for a spin in my Oppo in the very near future.

 

Plan on picking up The Great Dictator, Stagecoach, and City Lights. Wish they'd hurry up and repackage the Josef von Sternberg box (it's currently out of print but they still have the rights), because I really want to add that to my collection.

Since I just splurged on a last-chance with the Fox Murnau/Borzage set, gonna be an expensive month! But I plan my budget around these Criterion sales so it's cool.

I stopped off at my local (all right, it's in Wilkes Barre, but you get my point) Barnes and Noble today and came out with the BluRays of The Leopard and the Tati box.
