If you only own one New Orleans-based album, it should be this one:

Far different than most of what's been mentioned so far, but I love the Six and Seven Eights String Band of New Orleans. Apparently there were a bunch of these strings bands playing around N.O. in the early days of the 20th century.

Here's Gary U.S. Bonds' great original. I guess the Harley Quinne was a hit across the pond. Never heard it here.

I'm not a major NOLA music buff, but one that I really dig is the 1976 Wild Tchoupitoulas album. And I do love Fats Domino. As for newer stuff from the city, I've grown to like Luke Winslow-King.

(had to delete some images to get no more than five)

These are all outstanding, if I had to rank them I'd say volume 2, then 1, then 3. Volume 2 is practically an Allen Toussaint greatest hits collection, as he wrote the majority of the songs.

The two volumes have most but not all of the material from the three LPs, and add a few songs not on any of them. They are fine collections, but the programming on the LPs is better and the CD's don't have the excellent liner notes from the LPs.

I enjoyed these collections from the Ric and Ron labels put out by Rounder in the 1990s (I think there may be a couple of others, I know there is one LP devoted to Tommy Ridgley).

This is a nice double LP set

Agreed, I had two of the Rhino LPs. In fact, that was the start of the fascination with all things Rhino starting with the ad for their catalog....
