I'm quite fond of horror comedy films so I really like The Raven.
Peter Lorre is great in that one.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go with Halloween. It just works wonderfully well and has a Hitchcock feel.

I love it, I'm in tears with laughter when I watch it.

Sorry to sound like a geezer again, but after all the years of watching this favorite on a square screen, with a crappy transfer, and piss poor sound, to this ...this beautiful, crystal clear, color popping HD 1080p picture, in widescreen, with the 7.1 lossless audio...phew ! Like night and day !

Same here. Can't go wrong with Myers on Halloween! However I still watch the DVD version since the one I have is the extended version which am not sure if its on Blu or not.

  11. The Shining (1980). I prefer the UK cut at 119 minutes. Tight & terrifying!

I really like the movie, but Shelly Duvall really gets on my nerves.

Bear in mind, though, that the added TV scenes are still in SD while the rest of the film is in HD. Apparently source materials are an issue.

Speaking of Mr. Lorre, this one's always fun to watch. And it's even set on Halloween!

We typically watch The Texas Chain Saw Massacre every Halloween as we are handing out candy to trick or treaters. The new 40th Anniversary edition looked great!

    Also - this year:
Black Christimas - 74 version off of youtube
    The Changeling
    Dressed to Kill
House of the Devil - new movie (10 or so years old - great cast! - very 70's feel to it)
Legend of Hell House - original Richard Matheson version - scared the crap out of me as a kid

Saw Count Yorga and it's sequel on dvd recently. Real campy fun and you can spot a young Craig T Nelson in the second film.

I've mentioned this before, but I'll say it again. "The Pit And The Pendulum" from 1961
with Vincent Price. The best of the Corman Poe movies, and still sensational today.

House on Haunted Hill and the original 13 Ghosts. I saw 13 Ghosts at the show as a kid with my sister and I spent as much time looking through the "to not see ghosts" blue cellophane as I did looking through the "to see ghosts" red cellophane viewer thingy.

    Good call on Frankenstein also.

Ah yes, "House On The Haunted Hill". Had one of the most frightening scenes ever filmed, and I (and thousands of other kids) had nightmares from this for YEARS!
