Is it true that the band playing on the record is always macca's touring band ? Or just for some tittles?
BTW, of what i've heard so far, I like BB King rendition of On The Way.

Corrine Baileys Bluebird is absolutely beautiful.
Hearts Letting Go is a definite highlight.
Paul Rodgers Let Me Roll It

I asked on the other thread, has there ever been another collection like this where so man famous top level recording artist covered another artist on one collection like this? I've never ever heard of one. Is this history?

When I heard it I rather wondered what had happened to Harry Connick's voice. He was always accused of sounding like a Sinatra impersonator, but I've never felt it so forcibly as in his performance there. I like the song "My Love" a lot and have certainly enjoyed Connick as well but the combination just doesn't seem to work (for me at least).

actually it happens all the time,

usually with much better songwrtiters and just as wonderful, if not better, artists doing the songs.

"much better songwriters" than McCartney? First time I've noticed that there is also a Steve Hoffman Music Forum in a parallel universe...

i have been sitting here thinking should i reply, then no, don't go there, then, yes go ahead you know you want to.

    so i have to ask;

do you really, truly believe that paul mccartney is a better songwriter than john lennon or jackson browne?

other tribute albums you might want to give a listen to:

bob dylan - 30th anniversary concert - (this one is all live)

    jim capaldi - also live

there a couple of hendrix tributes out there .

and others could probably name quite a few more.

Yes. But I get the feeling you're unwilling to acknowledge that this is a very widely-held opinion. Why can't you just be happy with your opinion? Why do you feel the need to disparage others'?

Darlene Love had one of the best tracks on here...........shouldn't have been relegated to bonus.

I still don't love this collection. Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Darlene Love, and Allen Toussaint are my favorites..............though Allen's would've been better with his own band or solo piano.

I'll probably end up buying this for the Dylan song (keep on hating, you haters), though I loathe having to buy a double CD for just one song, it's hell to be a completist. I'm sure the Paul Rodgers song will also be great, at least...
I'll probably wait for a reasonably priced second-hand copy, the purse is almost empty...

 Yeah, right. The day you stop taking shots at McCartney (or any of the other classic artists you deem "overrated") is the same day that Hoffman board suddenly embraces rap.

I'm more of a "John guy", and yes - I still feel Paul McCartney is a better songwriter than John Lennon.
As for Jackson Browne, I like Ringo Starr's writing better.

When I said widely-held, I was not referring to this forum. I read virtually everything that appears online about the Beatles. That's the information I was using to make the widely-held claim, at least with respect to Lennon and McCartney.

You think Lennon was better and that's your right and that's fine. But 'a lot of people' think McCartney was better. I just don't get why that bothers you so much.

I agree with Lennon but not Browne - Lennon and McCartney were roughly equal, but John's high points were slightly greater than Paul's.

As for the album - saw a review somewhere that labelled it the worst tribute album ever. Harsh...
