Just watched the first episode and it's yet another very good British cop show. It stars Idris Elba, who was great starring as Stringer Bell in The Wire, as Detective John Luther. I don't want to give away anything but if you enjoyed other British police shows like Prime Suspect, Cracker, etc., I think this would be very much to your liking. It's on Sunday nights.

He goes up against some truly dark antagonists.

According to Amazon the DVD with all 6 episodes will be released in the States on 11/23, and the show is booked for 2 two hour specials in 2011.

Great show. The third series US premier on BBC America starts Tuesday and will continue until Friday. Rumors are that a feature film is in the works as well as a spin-off for the Alice charcter played by Ruth Wilson.

Just got through watching all ten episodes of the first two seasons on Netflix. Didn't know a thing about it and just started watching on a lark.........simply one of the best police procedurals ever. Hope they put up the new season soon!

Idris Elba is great, we can see him more and more often on movies: Prometheus, Thor, Pacific Rim and he plays Nelson Mandela in an upcoming movie about the SA leader.

    Announced today:

‪#‎Luther‬ is coming back to where he belongs. Back to London. Back to work. And back to BBC One.

Idris Elba will reprise his role as DCI John Luther in two hour-long specials for BBC One. LUTHER will film in and around London in March 2015 and will be broadcast on BBC One next year.

    Great news!

  18. Two hour long specials? Hardly time to do the character justice. I was hoping for 4 two hour long episodes...Still great that Elba is back in the role.

Maybe this will be incentive to also get the show on Blu-ray.

One of my favourite shows ever. And, yes, Alice has to return. She's one hot psychopath!

I guess Fox must be convinced that those pesky British accents won't sell well in the heartland, better redo it in 'murican.

Further news on the next installment. The two episode mini-series plan has been changed again. We'll now be getting a 1 episode mini-series! :)

The good news is that the single episode will be around 3 hours long, which is better then the previously planned 2 one hour long episodes.

The Luther one-night special event airs on December 17, 2015.
