Just curious how you all play your records. I always had mine down...tried up tonight with the LP cover mounted there and I think it sounds better! Placebo?

I play with the dust cover removed. Replace when listening session ends.

Sorry I messed up the poll...I added always on and removed options! Also, please post any reasons you might have for your choice. I really like the sound right now with it up and the LP cover resting there...I am going to try off next. Maybe it has something to do with the reflections or something...seemed to actually improve my imaging up. Maybe because when it is down the dustcover is closer to my speakers (my gear is between my speakers and not that far behind them)

Mines stays up while being played. It comes back down once it's finished.

Just kidding. I always put the cover down while playing a record. It keeps the dust away.

I leave it halfway open so when I come over to switch sides I can forget it's there and bang into it.

First turntable does not have a dust cover (and one will never look proper on it anyway). Second turntable dust cover down.

  15. Topless while LPs spin. Cover goes on overnight.

    Convertible.

The lid, up or down, causes sonic issues. Remove completely when spinning.

Dust cover off or down (depending which turntable and how easy it is to remove).

With headphones and cover down. On the rare occasion that I use my speakers I remove the cover.

    Usually down....off during parties.

  23. I think the Rega tables benefit greatly from up, if not off.

My main turntable does not have a dust cover and there is no room for one the way it is designed. I keep a cloth over a linear air bearing arm tube (ADA MG-1) when not in play to keep the dust out of the tiny air holes. My secondary table has a dust cover that I put down during play to reduce the amount of air borne vibrations it might catch (that's the idea anyways).
