Hey, just found a used CD copy of "Zodico, Blues & Boogie" by Clifton Chenier. This has 20 tracks from his Specialty period. Amazing stuff. Is there a more complete collection of Chenier's Specialty sessions or is this one I got the best.

Dunno about the Specialty years, but the Arhoolie stuff, esp "Bogaloosa Boogie" makes my teeter totter.

I just ordered Bogaloosa Boogie. I heard some samples on Youtube. I was familiar with his son, CJ Chenier and got a copy of The Big Squeeze, but I never perused anything else by either CJ or Clifton. I got some catchin' up to do.

These albums are really worth hearing too.

Just a bump to revive the thread. Still looking to compile a complete collection of the Specialty recordings.

I don't know about a complete collection, but this is pretty great:

The king of zydeco! "Buckwheat zydeco" played with him. Since then there have been many pretenders but he was the original.

I just picked up the Arhoolie CD Zydeco Sont Pas Sale. It is fantastic.
