    Then there's the obvious choice of 2112 Overture/Temples of Syrinx to lead off the 2112 LP.

    Wings - Beware My Love

    There is a brief organ piece before the song crossfades in on the album version.

    The beautiful (and much too short) "Nassau" which leads into "Baby I Love Your Way"
    on "Frampton".

    I just got a little history lesson. I thought the Beatles stole that from the 1812 Overture. Turns out Tchaikovsky stole it from the French.

    Fly Like An EAgle and Book Of Dreams both have songs on them that have synth effects that sound like the beginning of the songs they lead into.

    *heavy sigh* Instrumentals aren't songs. Songs are, by definition, sung. Destroy the lexicon if you must. Apparently it's not important on a music-related website.

    Not sure I completely understand the idea behind the thread (and a read through the responses shows I'm not alone), but the first thing that occurred to me when I read the title was several bars of Nat King Cole's "Lush Life" leading into "Love Rears Its Ugly Head" on Living Colour's Time's Up.

    Jimi Hendrix (this intro does have some distorted, umm, "vocals")
    ...And the Gods Made Love --> Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland)

    Pink Floyd (likewise, the first "song" from DSOTM is essentially an instrumental)
    Speak to Me --> Breathe

    Heart (on their first "Greatest Hits" album)
    Silver Wheels --> Crazy On You

    Black Sabbath (lots of good ones already mentioned for this band)
    E5150 --> The Mob Rules

    Iron Maiden (another band with more than one of these)
    Transylvania --> Strange World
    The Ides of March --> Wrathchild

    On Wings' Venus and Mars album, the instrumental tag of "Listen to What the Man Said" serves as an intro to "Treat Her Gently"/"Lonely Old People."
    ELO - "Eldorado" intro into "I Can't Get It Out of My Head."
    1910 Fruitgum Company's Hard Ride album - "In the Beginning" (instrumental) segues into "The Thing" (another instrumental).
    Neil Young's first album - "String Quartet from Whiskey Boot Hill" segues into "Here We Are in the Years."

    These are not separately titled, nor are their composers credited, but a passage from the first movement of Beethoven's 1st Symphony is the intro to Deep Purple's cover of "We Can Work It Out" (actually that intro is retitled "Exposition" and credited to the band). Deep Purple used a variation on Richard Strauss's "Also Sprach Zarathustra" as an instrumental intro to their cover of "River Deep,Mountain High." A passage from Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" is the intro to the Vanilla Fudge's cover of "Some Velvet Morning." The beginning of the first movement of Beethoven'e 5th Symphony is the intro to ELO's cover of "Roll Over, Beethoven."
