It has the same tracks as the previous Cd but is two minutes longer and sounds like a different mix to me.
Maybe I'll wait 10 years to get this set, or see if they get released individually because I only need the 5 studio albums, or even just the first three because those are the ones that were remixed. Bookends sounds great in it's Legacy remaster. Love the bass in "Punky's Dilemma."
If anyone wants to sample a track in lossless, Qobuz has it http://www.qobuz.com/fr-fr/album/the-complete-studio-albums-collection-simon-garfunkel/0886444847988
Hmm. That only contains the studio albums. Same case with the iTunes version (available in some countries, e.g. Germany). Wonder why the download editions contain less than the CD box?
Actually the samples are in 320kbps MP3. You can download all the lossless albums for 30€ ($37) though.

Two bits of local trivia: "Live in Central Park" was released as a 2-CD set in Brazil, but apparently it was the same recording as the American single CD version. So I opted for the import, as I saw no reason to buy two CDs when I could have the same material on one. I wonder what is included in the additional two minutes in the recently released 2-CD version. Also, the Brazilian "Greatest Hits" that was released in the early 70's had the same track list as the American edition, but all studio versions! When the album was finally released on CD, it matched the original American release, so a lot of Brazilian buyers complained that the CD "substituted live versions", not realizing that it was the previous vinyl edition that had been changed.
Okay, someone just downloaded Bookends and loved it. I felt the same way about the sound on the regular new CD version. It's really good as is the whole set. http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threa...n-24-192-bookends-stereo-sounds-great.396660/
The original 2LP vinyl release contained a few bits of between-song talk that was omitted on the original CD release. I assume this has been restored and accounts for the timing differences.
Wait a minute I just heared the quobuz previews Does 'Sound of Silence' from "Greatest Hits" have reversed channels? And 'Cecilia' runs REALLY faster!
Sound of Silence is also reversed on the Greatest Hits reissue that came out earlier this year on Columbia's "Playlist" series.
This is the interview most people cite. It's from 1972, when stereo was starting to take over and before the mono nostalgia kicked in. Also, I can't be sure, but I'm pretty positive that he has confused the single and album versions of the song. http://www.paul-simon.info/PHP/showarticle.php?id=13&kategorie=1 The part of the article as it pertains to this discussion: "Q) You didn't like any of whole? A) "Fakin' It" was interesting. Autobiographically, it was interesting. But we never really got it on the records. Q) I'm surprised because I like 'faking It' so much. A) That's because you are thinking of "Fakin' It" on the album. And "Fakin' It" on the album is vastly improved over "Fakin' k" as a single. For one thing, I think it's speeded up. For two, it was re-mixed and greatly improved in stereo. It was a jumble; it was a record that was jumbled sloppy. When you hear the original mono, it's slower and it's sloppier. It was improved on the LP, but by then it was already poisoned in my mind."
