I'll give him love (figuratively). I was just listening to "(I Wanna Live on an) Abstract Plain" today while doing dishes and thinking what a timeless song that was.

The scary thing is, Teenager of the Year came out of May in '94-- thus technically more than 20 years old. Feel ancient yet? :agree:

I have access to that for like 3 bucks. Should I grab it?

Take me most seriously when I say that it's a bargain at any price. I can't imagine you won't love TOTY. Not only is it one of the most underrated albums of the nineties, but it's like 20 tracks long and they're all gold.

If you're like me you'll like the first side better, but then two or three years down the line you'll realize side two is actually even better than side one. Bottom line is, for three dollars you'd better get it!

EDIT: 22 tracks, actually. Can't lose!

Yes! It's ridiculously good. I'd say get his first 3 solo albums, and the first Catholics record too.

Modest Mouse - Teeth Like Gods Shoeshine. Indie rocks stairway to heaven in my view.

It's a pretty good song, but top of the heap for the past two decades? Can't agree with you there. But then, again, I'd have to really look over a list of songs because otherwise I'd pick When September Ends by Green Day, in part because it just popped into my head but also because I think it is a fantastic and well-written song (musician here as well).

I'm sure this choice will be vilified here, but you don't have to be some irony-filled alt rock group to come up with a great song.

Just around 20 years ago, and my candidate for best overall (overriding my prior comment about "When September Ends"):

Thanks, Synthfreek, I ultimately figured that out after being scolded by the forum software! :D

Yep you guys were right. I listened to it on Spotify and listened to the entire thing. The first 2 or 3 tracks were really shaky for me but once past those - wow.

Thanks for the suggestion! Hopefully I can grab it before someone else does.

20 years is a long bleepin' time. I think this is my favorite rock song from the last 4 or 5, though.
