It's actually on a triple CD called The Psychedelic Years, 1966-1969 -American Album Classics and another album called Psychedelia on Sony

Frank Sinatra and the three guys from The Fifth Dimension certainly knew how to rock the threads in the day.

    So?

Just because it was released in the Psychedelic Years doesn't make it Psychedelic!

John Cale's involvement with LeMonte Young and the Theatre of Eternal music pre-dates that era by 2-3 years.

There's a long jam on the Arthur LP that strays into "Live/Dead" territory for a few minutes...

Everyone had hints of psychedelia, but many never went full-blown. The Who and the Kinks both out excellent albums in 1967 that were psychedlic-tinged but certainly not full on the way the Beatles, Doors, Stones, Hendrix, Cream, etc were.

"Australia," sure, but I'd hardly call it psychedelic.

    "Crazy Dreams" might qualify

I consider the instrumental part of "Australia" to be psychedelic too.

I was thinking more about Dave's Blossom Toes/Garcia-style jamming in the middle portion of "Mr. Churchill Says".

"Armenia City in the Sky" is psych as it gets (and really unlike any other Who track).

A bit psychedelic, I agree, but on that album I think the last half of "Australia" more fits that bill.

Psychedelics and narcotics were not uniformly regulated until the Executive Reorganization Act of 1968 which combined the FBN and the BNDD into what became the DEA...so the answer is "no".

And it wasn't written by Pete ;):p. The Who seemed to dabble in psychedelia on Sell Out but they never fully go there which is just as well as it never suited them. They were far too violent, aggressive, visceral, and cerebral to be really psychedelic.

Donovan's "Epistle To Dippy" is pretty trippy...and with not a drone within earshot.
