The next James Bond movie is in pre-production. This weekend I was listening to Depeche Mode's Ultra and in the middle of it I was thinking how great they'd be if given a chance at a Bond theme.

Who do you think should get a chance?

I like the older themes and someone who could invoke that today would be Rumer..

Anna Calvi could do a good Bond theme (Love Won't Be Leaving, from her debut album, could have been a good Bond theme with a little tweaking).

    Very good suggestions. :righton:

Goldfrapp should write it - and they should get Shirley Bassey to sing it one last time whilst she still can sing! You need some continuity with Bond if they intent are losing the charm, humour, wit and Ken Adams production values with the Craig era..

I agree with the OP. Depeche Mode would be good.

A few years ago, I would suggested The Killers, based on "A View To a Kill," by Duran Duran many years ago.

Now, I am not so sure. Who in the modern equivalent? Starlings, also, from Birmigham if memory serves, might have done the job, but they broke up. Guess I'd have to go with Courteeners, as they at least know how to write a bombastic, singalong song, in this depleted modern age.

Given recent trends, it'll likely be Lorde

    THAT would be brilliant.

Scott Walker submitted a theme for The World is not Enough. I'm a Bond geek (my parents' first date was Goldfinger!) I love Bond, I love Scott Walker (including his recent output,) and I love the track he contributed. But man, that would have been a gawdawful opening theme. There's no big, dramatic chorus.

For some reason, the person who posted this matched the tune up with the intro to Die Another Day. Still, you'll get the (not very good) idea...
