I've had my current speakers (ProAc Studio 150) more than 10 years now. I think I'd need to spend a pretty substantial sum to upgrade them, so they'll be sticking around for the foreseeable future. Besides I love them :)

Once back around 1989 when I bought a whole Yamaha mid-fi stereo system.

Since then I've bought everything else used, approx 7 pairs over the years.

Once my listening room is done I might have to buy some Totem Mites new if I can't find them used to go with my other pair (bought used) to create a 5.1 surround system.
Also in another year or two I'll end up buying new in-wall Totem's for a home theater room.

Beyond that I will mostly buy used as I feel you get better bang for your buck and I only buy used if I can audition them to make sure they work, so that means local pick-up only for me.

As much as I hate resurrecting old threads, it does seem somewhat appropriate in this case as I've just bought a new pair of speakers after the longest period with the previous pair. The RM1s were getting a bit long in the tooth, as a couple of foam surrounds had gone, and while replacement drivers were available at the time, unfortunately VMPS is no longer an option as the designer passed a couple of years ago. I was at a loss as to where to go until I stumbled upon Golden Ear speakers. So,to add to my list: 2014 Golden Ear Triton 3. I won't say that I'm done, but unless I hit the lottery or a rich uncle remembers me in his will, I suspect it will be another number of years before I replace these.

For my 2 channel system I've had my Snell QBx monitors for 14 years. If and when I can get a better job to be able to afford a new pair, I'd buy a new set. Though I do like my Snells.

Then I stopped messing around and bought the Devore Orangutans.
These will be my end speaker unless I come into lottery winnings.

I still have both pairs. It is about time for me to get another pair, or two - first the KEF LS50, and then some bigger full range ones.

My Large Advents and my AR 58's are both 30+ years old and my Triangle Cometes I just sold were about 10. I just bought a few months ago a pair of JBL ES20's for all of $129 and am very impressed, but should have bought the ES30 with a 6.5" woofer. Maybe by Christmas. Sadly the new JBL's are as good as the Triangles, surprisingly. I am over the marketing hype for gear.

Once. Late 70's, a pair of Infinity Quantum Jr. Everything since then has been used, or I build it myself. But the Infinities are the standard by which I judge everything else. I remember what I heard. And if I don't hear it when auditioning new systems, I pass.

Wow! $379/pr. on Amazon. Just to admit my biases, when I looked these up I thought, "typical Best Buy-type mid-fi." Don't judge a book, etc.

1989ish - Diesis Solitaire. Power hungry little bastards - kept blowing speaker coils.

    2006 - Maggie MMGs

2011 - replaced the Maggies with Proac Studio 125s. Because we had an accidental baby.

But in 29 years, when he leaves home, in buying Maggies again.

I used a pair of Cerwin-Vega D-3 for 20+ years. Then I moved up a little, added a 2nd system, and then discovered ProAc about 4 years ago. Journey ended.

Yes, I liked the Hawk so much I 'sidegraded' to a different finish.

The fabulous Revels were only in the main system briefly, but then became the anchor of a second system, now in my bedroom.

I am happy with the Forest, but it's been five years and I read this site and Stereophile and Tone and TAS and I have started auditioning candidates. I've listened to a number of speakers in the $10-20,000 range(new), and while most were at least 'different' and the Audio Physic Scorpio (or Virgo? I forget) was 'better', I haven't heard the magic yet that justifies spending five figures.
