Sorry but I can't agree. It is one their weakest albums IMHO.

I agree the some of the stuff from Ronnie's solo albums was better than some of the Stones material from the period. Gimme Some Neck and I've Got My Own Album To Do are both strong and 1234 isn't bad either. Many of Stones play on those as well.

Not knocking Woody's time with the Stones but it seems the material has been more spotty since he has been in the band than during the earlier periods with Brian Jones and Mick Taylor.

I love Emotional Rescue. Wyman's bass on "She's So Cold." Rapid fire drumming and those slashing, weaving guitars on some of those tracks is classic Stones.

I listened to it again the other day all the way through and the only songs I really like are Let Me Go and She's So Cold. Sorry, but that's my opinion,

"Indian Girl", I liked that one a lot. "Let Me Go" has a really fun riff you can play with one finger, and its been re-woven into a million jam sessions, I like that one too.

Now Look is Woodie's strongest by far IMO. Far better than what the Stones put out at that time....also IMO.

I haven't gotten that one yet, but based alone on the fact that it is mostly outtakes from I've Got My Own Album to do, I don't expect it to be among his best.

Listened to cds early this morning at work while cutting checks. One of the standouts for me was Bill's bass playing. It was noticeable now and again especially in Fingerprint File for example. I wonder if Bob Clearmountain tweaked the mix to make it more clear. I always liked those late sixties and early seventies albums that had the bass really noticeable and in your face. Some of Billy Preston's embellishments are cool as well. Ronnie plays well when he is given the opportunity. The playing overall seems to be a lot more loose than when Mick Taylor was in the band.

Haven't gotten to the dvd yet. That is on the agenda for my Thanksgiving break.

Interesting as it doesn't say that in the credits but I haven't watched the dvd yet. However Woody played bass in the Jeff Beck Group so he should be pretty adept but I did notice Bill's playing in some other songs as well.

I guess that would make since as Mick Taylor played the bass on the studio version of Fingerprint File if I remember correctly.

Mentioned earlier- Ron Wood bass player extraordinaire.

Same bass that Wyman played, right? Yet what a noticeable difference, not knocking Wyman btw.

I really noticed Bill's bass playing on the Hampton set and it reminded me just how vital he was to their sound..He really added a lot of zing to those songs, nothing fancy, just lively and solid.

    Re: Fingerprint File

Taylor plays bass on the studio track and I knew about Woody on the live version but had forgotten until I watched the DVD.

It's easy to forget about him as they tend not to show him as much on the videos except when he plays ping pong with Bill Graham. :D

I love Bill Wyman's bass on "When The Whip Comes Down" . Especially on the live Hampton DVD where you can see him play each note as it rumbles out of the sub-woofer. Great version.

Well, I'd say the credits in the booklet aren't worth the paper they are printed on.
They don't even know what show they are presenting here. The liner notes suggest
that the DVD & CD's are from the same show, 7/12/75, when in fact neither the DVD
OR the CD's are from that date! The DVD is taken from 7/11, the CD's from 7/13.

So to be clear, the DVD is a unreleased show and the CD is the same as the previously released download, correct? This whole thing has given me a headache.
