Grabbed two of the Hdtracks albums and I like the mastering on them, I like physical so the box will be my next purchase
I'd say go with the physical set for $55! I have it and it sounds great. I'm sure the downloads sound great too but for me since I'm well satisfied with the CD quality, CD wins. Besides the mini-lps look much better in person and are pretty sturdy and nice book. Go for the CDs - you won't be disappointed!
FYI, there's plenty of tape hiss on the remixes too. While SoS and PSR&T do seem to be the original mixes, I don't think there's been a definitive conclusion about WM3AM. Not that the remix is very different anyway.
Wait until you play The Graduate. There's a couple of tracks with hiss galore but it still sounds pretty good and much better than it did on the original CD!
I hear it more prominently on the new edition over the Columbia box Parsley, I did not grab the other first two so no idea on hiss, like I said I have no issues with it on older recordings
May anyone check 'Cecilia' from the new Greatest Hits? I did not like what I heared from quobuz Paul and Art sounded almost like chipmunks
On the quobuz site, the pitch runs NOTICEABLY higher I'd like to know if it was a problem of the site, or the actual CD has that problem
On every 'Greatest Hits', 'Best of', "Essential" and every version of the BOTW album, it doesn't sound like that It should sound like this (taken from the official site) http://www.simonandgarfunkel.com/us/music/simon-and-garfunkels-greatest-hits
No, it *is* supposed to sound like that. The old Greatest Hits CD used the BOTW mix of Cecilia. The new CD correctly uses what was on the original LP. It's a different mix, and it's supposed to be different.
Oh I didn't know that! So, for every single CD compilation, they used the BOTW mix I listened to the quobuz sample again. As you say, it's a different mix ... and it appears to be in mono! http://www.qobuz.com/fr-fr/album/th...ction-simon-garfunkel/0886444847988?ectrans=1
You can hear the whole thing if you listen to it on Spotify. The 1972 Greatest Hits they have on there contains this mono-to-stereo mix.
