Don't know if anyone even heard about the artist. Sophie Zelmani - I'm The Rain, apparently it has come up for sale in the past on discogs but I have never seen one.

A few come to mind for me
    • Mercy Rule - The Flat Black Chronicles. The third and last album from the Omaha powerhouse band.
    • Frontier Trust - Speed Nebraska. Tractor Punk at it's finest.
    • Fizzle like a Flood - Golden Sand and the Grandstand. A 1-person bedroom recording with tons of overdubbing, etc, that tells the story of the Arksaben Horse Racing track in reverse chronological order. CD-R only as far as I know.
    • Posterchildren - Flower Plower.
    • Pedro the Lion - It's Hard to Find a Friend
    • Catfish Keith - Jitterbug Swing.

    Eclectic Turkey - Land.
    Simon F - Gun
The Lost Soul Band - Friday the 13th and Everything's Rosie

All 3 records are brilliant and most excellent. The first is rare dub/electronica from UK. Simon is power Pop with an edge and Lost Soul are a cross between the Waterboys/Van Morrison and the Replacements. All obscure and if you've heard of 'em send me a PM to discuss how elite and tasteful we are.

Another odd one but so rare I can't think of the name of it at the moment. Has a song on it called "Go To The Lake and Breathe"...

Bought it for the cover. Was good, just recently found it on CD! Black Sheep of the Family got some FM airplay but there are also some interesting long pieces that are sort-of a mix of jazz, orchestral and rock. It aged pretty well. Recommended if u like the rest of the Brit prog stuff from early '70s.

A Primary Industry - Ultramarine (before they changed their name to Ultramarine)
Cacophonous post-punk with an industrial edge reminiscent of early A Certain Ratio and Section 25

The only true successor to T.C. Matic (to me) is Daan..
Somehow only BIG here in Belgium (and a bit of France)

I guess (like with T.C. Matic) the music is too 'Belgian'...

Another band I've always had a soft spot for was 'Krakatoa' (not the progband)
Even after getting the opening slot on Adam Ant's first tour in more than 15 year they never got further than a 7inch.

    Think of an uptodate Beatles...
And they also did a blistering 'Somebody To Love'

So typical of the London music scene.. So many crossings/inbreed bands.. and in the end a few lucky make it..

  16. Pierson Ross - Wild Ones. Canadian singer-songwriter influenced by nick drake & van Morrison, but wholly his own sound, fully formed & unbelievably talented. Plays live in NYC & Toronto here & there. If he had better mgmt, he'd be a household name.

I used to see that Quatermass LP in delete bins all over the place in the late '60s or early '70s. Never did pick it up. Considering I like Brit prog, maybe that was a mistake?

  20. I'm sure many Canadians on this board are familiar with Max Webster.

I played it to death until I left it for ELP, and others back when it was new. The other selling point was that the kbd/organist was the kbd/organist on Jesus Christ Superstar (Which came out later, and, if you may remember, was a very cool album back then). If you can find Quatermass, you prob won't regret buying it. It was an earworm (in a good way) for a couple of days last time I was in London - the lyric was: the cit-tyyyyy was a ravin' neon nightmare! A slow blues, that particular song, but with a way-strange English prog style instrumental break in the middle.

In fact, maybe I'll go slap it on now!
