"The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming" ... to BluRay!

This classic comedy starring Alan Arkin, Carl Reiner, Jonathan Winters and Brian Keith has long, long been out of print. In February, it's coming to BluRay! Just $20. I can finally retire the DVD-R I burned from my old (much loved) widescreen laserdisc!

 

It's about time! I just got a copy on DVD, and now it comes out on Blu-Ray, just my luck. Oh well, I know I'll buy it, since it is one of my favorite movies. I actually saw it in the theater when it came out (I was 11), and I loved it. I have the Laserdisc, but my player is a little long in the tooth, and I'm sure it will fail sooner or later.

 

This movie is one of my favorites! Great writing, casting, acting, directing and editing. It is so easy for this type of comedy to fail, but, (similar to, but even better than "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World,"), this one hit's it out of the park!

 

Released in the middle of the Cold War it had a real political resonance as well.
