Ringo, Moon, and Bonham in that order.

Mine are Moon, Bonham and Ringo. :)

Read this in the same book as I just read something that you Beatle experts surely know. I've probably read it before but I forgot. Paul helped John and Yoko get back together after the lost weekend. What a nice guy he is, considering..

My three favourite Rock drummers are Ginger Baker, Keith Moon & Mitch Mitchell, all have that free flowing wild abandon in their playing.

Jazz drummers Buddy Rich, Louis Bellson, Irv Cottler

I would go with Ginger Baker, Keith Moon & Bill Bruford tied with John Bonham. Jazz drummers Gene Krupa, Billy Cobham & Buddy Rich. For Rock honorable mention Mitch Mitchell.

Sorry, but I'd make a tiny change: Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette and Steve Gadd.

I'm also sorry not being able to fit the great Jon Hiseman anywhere... Ehh, and Billy Cobham, the next step in the evolution of percussion playing. Unfortunately, those 5 dudes won't fit neatly into jazz vs. pop categories.

Topper Headon. His drumming on Tommy Gun was about the most virtuoso piece of musicianship on any record by the Clash.

Mickey Jones. I love his contribution to the Dylan/Band electric sets in 1966. Brutal, but beautiful.

Paul Cook. He played drums on the Pistols' singles so he's by default the best drummer who ever lived.

what's John Molo up to these days? I miss him every time I see Joe Russo unnecessarily speeding up Grateful Dead songs.
