I'd also give Clem Burke (Blondie) an admirable mention.

After those two I struggle, there are so many great drummers.

Ian Paice / Roger Taylor / Neil Peart / Cozy Powell / Charlie Watts etc...

Ringo was perfect for the Beatles and I don't pretend to even begin to understand the technical side of all this and who is better than who but as the OP is talking about favourite then maybe Ringo would get my number 3 spot.

  10. I know..How could anybody really? :)

So influential and underrated. Bruford, Collins and Peart are just 3 amazing drummers who were influencd by Michael Giles.

And his Drum Break on "Tomorrow's People" has been a staple of Hip Hop samples.

That's about as easy a list as I've ever made on here! Though come to think of it, I might change one or more tomorrow. :D

Oh come on now. Macca might name this "Top 3" in an interview, but when he puts his head on the pillow at night and thinks about it, surely he puts himself in his own Top 3. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :)

Ringo is nowhere close on my list of favotites.
I even rate Larry Mullen JR. higher.

Ginger Baker. Corky Laing. Keith Moon.

I've asked drummers over the years and many of them have said Ringo is their favorite.

Just for the sake naming someone different, Barry Whitwam of Herman's Hermits was a very good drummer. (And, yes, he did play on the records.)

He's fantastic, no doubt about it! I think maybe why I sometimes forget about him is that, to the best of my knowledge, he hasn't appeared on a whole lot of albums. In fact, I'm drawing a blank on "Tomorrow's People".
