1971 as they are using the UK tapes.

I thought it may be possible, as they used the earlier mix of Day Tripper.

    That's a good theory - makes sense.

How bout that. Was wondering why this thread was getting so much traffic. Have to get a set and compare with the old UKs.

Anyone got the Love album and compared it to the original Love vinyl?

The earlier mix was issued on the original UK pressing

So, has anyone done an A/B comparison with the 2012 remasters?

    Surely chalk and cheese.

Cleaned up and digitally sourced vs analogue.

I'll happily compare 1973 analogue to 2014 analogue over the weekend. Should have them both by then.

It's a fair question, in spite of the chalk and cheese and apples and oranges aspect of analog vs digital

Will do. The new sets should be waiting when I get home. Will post over the weekend, hopefully with samples so you can make your own mind up.

Thanks! I've already made my mind up, unless someone convinces me otherwise.

    Here you are.

    30" clips 1973 followed by 2014. (Technics SL1200/SME 309/Ortofon 2M Bronze)

No processing. I've even left a bit of groove noise on!

    I Feel Fine
    Day Tripper

I had a fast listen in a not so quiet environment, but the new one has much better low end and clarity. :)

Having finally gotten my replacement of RED, I would say it is much better sounding (deeper, cleaner bass, more 'attack') than my late 1980's UK edition

Thanks Nobby. I was only able to listen on my IPhone. I did notice that the 2014 cuts were smoother and had less treble than the original versions.

    What are your thoughts?

How does Norwegian Wood sound on the new pressing? I found it to be messy to track on the original. Very sibilant, no matter what cart or TT that I have used.

I've listened in and out to the RED, whilst I was cleaning the BLUE!

Certainly the bass is more noticeable. It came thundering in on PLEASE PLEASE ME.

I noticed the sibilance on NORWEGIAN WOOD on the original RED... I'll check the new vinyl and post a short clip tomorrow along with AND I LOVE HER as that's another where sibilance used to be problematic.

There was just a tadge bit of sibilance on And I Love Her on my set up.
If you like BLUE you could do worse than 'like' the 1967-1970 vinyl review on Amazon.uk

Liked your review; it stated that the vinyl weighed in at about 140 grams....shouldn't that be 180?

Aren't all versions of "I Feel Fine" the whispering version? Where is the non-whispering version??

I assume the whispering is where someone says "quiet!" during the intro? The opening buzz IS the intro not the guitar riff.

Whispered intro can be heard from link in post 415.
