Can't choose 10. Impossible. My favourite album, however, is Arthur. I know that much.

I was listening to the SACD of Sleepwalker today and was struck by how wonderful a track "On the Outside" is....both the original and the 90's remix! How could this glorious song not get released back in the day? It then made me think of "The Poseur", "Duke", "Once a Thief" and "Stolen Away Your Heart".....all amazing songs that never saw release until reissues many years after the fact. These tunes alone would make a better album than most bands could do on their best day!

Glad someone else likes 'On The Outside' .. a stunning track, so moving and poignant, it's right up there with 'Days' and 'Better Things'.. It's a crime they didn't include it on Sleepwalker. And yet they released the similarly lyrically themed but far inferior imo 'Out of the Wardrobe' on the following album..

Any Kinks fans who havent heard 'On The Outside': do yourself a favour now!

Which mix do you prefer? I really enjoy them both.....the 70's mix with the keyboards is just great although the 90's mix minus the keys really highlights Dave's fantastic acoustic guitar work on this track. Both are necessary to own IMHO! Luckily they put them both on the SACD and CD reissue!

I like them both, depends what mood I'm in. The '94 mix with the emphasised acoustic guitar does fit in more with the stripped down feel of the 'To The Bone' recordings the Kinks were working on at the time and sounds more modern overall. Glad Ray at least rescued the song for a later B-side (on the Kinks last new single in fact), though imo it should have been at A-side in 1977. Someone should persuade him to play it live.

"To the Bone" is so under appreciated. It features a few of my favorite versions of Kinks songs on it!
