Is that the Kuxan Suum album? Mayan followers are they? I'd like to find a few of those portals myself. BTW a very belated 60th birthday 'old fella'! Glad you're still around and keeping the music alive!
I picked up Abacus-Midway recently. Great stuff. It's very underrated, infact very badly rated by some prog listeners which annoys the hell out of me because I rate it better than something so highly rated by prog fans such as King crimson-Red from the same year. Some great compositions and musicianship on Midway. It's one of my fave cd's from 1974. I guess some prog fans are pretty blank when it comes to great melody, all they want is experimentation which to me means lack of composition ideas
Abacus always were underrated. I mastered their actual album "Destiny" in 2010. Still they are great, melodic, sensible and full of coloured sounds. - Eroc
Finally they made it... Universal just announced to re-release all 14 albums from Grobschnitt by mid of this year. I'll do the remasterings (for those which are not ready yet). And this gives hope for more upcoming Kraut reissues, too. Cheers... - Eroc
That is fantastic news. The old releases are hard to come by, and I'm still missing some. Hoping this batch becomes the definitive masterings!!
I'll do my very best. Here's what's on the schedule: 1972 Grobschnitt 1974 Ballermann 1975 Jumbo (englisch) 1976 Jumbo (deutsch) 1977 Rockpommels Land 1978 Solar Music Live 1979 Merry-Go-Round 1980 Volle Molle - Live 1981 Illegal 1982 Razzia 1984 Kinder & Narren 1985 Fantasten 1986 Sonnentanz Live 1990 Last Party Live - Eroc
So far that's not a topic. But as said, I got the message just yesterday. So there will be discussions and brainstorming going on, you can bet. - Eroc
I did that one last year for the "Back To Black" series from Universal. But it's only available on vinyl so far... - Eroc
Great News. Eroc i would like to ask you about the Solar Music LP. There is a version with Blue letter cover and i am wondering if the blue version is the first release or it was some kind of misprint. Did you or your band had control over the design or artworks?
The one with the golden letters is the first and original of the 1978 released album (see below). Maybe the blue version was a reprint and they didn't have enough money for golden letters. Oh yes, we surely had our influence on most of the artworks. That Solar Music Live cover was done by me. The "landscape" for Merry-Go-Round was built by our keyboarder Mist (R.I.P.). Illegal and Razzia were designed by Pitter Klassen and me. Pitter was our singer and guitar player with The Crew (1966 - 1969). So you see, it all stays in the family... - Eroc
what's wrong with the Repetoire 1998 CD release mastered by Eroc? With the 30 minute live bonus track? I don't need to buy anymore Grobschnitt, I already have it all, although it's taken awhile, about 20 years! : s/t: Repertoire PMS 7093-WP (1998) w/ 30 minute bonus track Ballerman: Brain 843 076-2 (original aluminum to center hub W. German CD) Jumbo: English + Deutch + single SPV 49832 CD ('07 Eroc remaster) Rockpommel's Land: Brain 837 985-2 (original aluminum to center hub WG CD) Solar Music: Repertoire PMS 7096-WP (1998) w/ extra 13:08 Merry-Go-Round: Repertoire PMS 7097-WP (1998) plus 2 live bonus tracks Volle Molle: Brain 511 975-2 (original aluminum to center hub W. Yeah, that's true. And it sounds totally harsh in the 4k region. Back then I didn't have that great tools for remastering like today. And those were the days, too, when Repertoire forced me to screw things up LOUD. - Eroc

Just got that vinyl release of the debut, and it sounds very nice. I am just discovering this band. Also just got "Solar Music - Live" on vinyl, and that one also sounds very good. Did you also master that one for vinyl?
Yes, I did that one for vinyl a few years ago. But much more important is my work for 79:10 during the passed 3 years: 17 CDs from Grobschnitt, each one with the maximum total running time of 79 minutes and 10 seconds. All to be released by Universal on March 27th..... www.grobschnitt.rocks
I am interested in these remasters. Might check some of them out. Are the dynamics still there on the new CD versions? I much prefer to listen to the music without a reduced dynamic range.
The remasterings were all done from the o-tapes. I was very careful and didn't use any additional compression at all. But in some cases there is some heavy compression already on the sources, since we used DBx 160 or UREI 1178 and other dynamic's enhancing gear back then, to get more "power" on the mixes.
