The number of people who download movies is really just a fraction of the population For a movie like this -- and not some major franchise like LOTR or The Avengers - from the numbers I've seen, you might have 200,000-300,0000 tops download the movie via a torrent.

I saw the last couple Rogen movies, North Korea probably did us all a favor. There must be some REALLY juicy Sony secrets the hackers are saving up for Sony to cancel the movie. I don't buy its the theater chains making this decision, I think Sony is pulling the strings trying to save face. Sony probably has cooked books they're sweating the IRS and investors will see.

no, they didn't...what they did was bring us to our knees with words...and show a terrorist just how weak we have become.

Who is the "we" in the equation? The American people, the American government, or a bunch of over-paid do-nothing candy ass movie executives who don't want their bosses in Japan to know they're spending $6M a year on sushi and massages while Sony goes down the drain? My analogy would be Michael Corleone coming out to Vegas and finding out the only thing Fredo has learned about running a casino is how to bang six cocktail waitresses at a time!

"North Korea-Based Thriller With Gore Verbinski And Steve Carell Canceled"

"EXCLUSIVE: The chilling effect of the Sony Pictures hack and terrorist threats against The Interview are reverberating. New Regency has scrapped another project that was to be set in North Korea. The untitled thriller, set up in October, was being developed by director Gore Verbinski as a star vehicle for Foxcatcher star Steve Carell. The paranoid thriller written by Steve Conrad was going to start production in March. Insiders tell me that under the current circumstances, it just makes no sense to move forward. The location won’t be transplanted. Fox declined to distribute it, per a spokesman."

Probably end up at multiple viewings of "Annie" just to stick it to Kim and his cronies.

  14. Yours too.

  15. What a gutless move by Sony and many posters here who have no problem knee jerking to the demands of a despot.

  16. I have no idea how any of this works, so apologies in advance if it's a stupid question.....

Are any of these movies insured against things like this?

My wife asked this after seeing the news story this morning.

  17. The irony of the reaction of most of the Hollywood types to this is revealing. Saying any more would be pushing Forum guidelines, but SMH.

  18. No idea what you are alluding to regarding Hollywood reactions. Most seem a genuine expression of disappointment with Sony's decision. Where is the irony?

A theatre in the Dallas area has replaced The Interview with Team America World Police. Maybe that sentiment and action will spread? Maybe not, I think that this Texas cinema is an independent venue unlike the overwhelming number of screens....owned by 6 firms.

Judging by the posts being deleted, maybe the North Koreans also have some dirty laundry on the Gorts
