Is Arcade Fire's "Reflektor" one of the all-time classics?

This album finally clicked for me and I'd venture it will make it on the best of the decade and then some. I like the Rara infusion and the whole mood through the album. I was pretty knocked out by The Suburbs and was thrilled they won a Grammy in an age where so many feel they can make it by just flinging a single out on iTunes. AF stayed faithful to the album as an art form and should be lauded. Reflektor keeps that up and is just as good if not a little more focused for me. Pretty impressive to follow up a classic album with another possibly. Younglings today should feel lucky they have a band like this cranking them out right when they are building their musical preferences.

I think to have Funeral somewhere. That had at least 2 great songs. I must listen to it again . Thanks. Before I hadn't felt that compelling instinct. I'll give it another try soon. I have too much music to listen.

i'd say that they're the band of their era, but reflektor is their weakest album.

i can't understand why the suburbs cops it in the neck like it does all the time. incredible record.

Yes. But it's also the weakest album in their discography.

Messy album. Kind of interesting musically and/or the mixing but not so many songs that stick. "Funeral" is an all-time classic to my ears. One of the great debut albums.

For me personally this is my least favorite Arcade Fire album by far - not even close. As much as I tried, I just could never warm up to this one.

My favorite is actually Neon Bible, followed by Funeral and Suburbs.

I had Funeral on this morning for the first time in ages. We should be due for some new AF soon I reckon.

Brilliantly executed and with impressive musical sensibility. It just oozes of creativity. Well, that's how I feel about it now after the initial dissapointment - the first 2-3 listening sessions.

It's too soon to classify it as an all time classic, I think.

One of the all time disappointments, considering the stone cold classic it followed.

i love reflektor. however it did take me a few listens to warm up to it, because the suburbs had been a very important record to me.

i even made an expanded reflector playlist using the reflektor tapes songs.

"Reflektor" has some great material but I think it's bloated. If "Awful Sound", "Porno" and "Supersymmetry" where trimmed away, I think it would probably jump "Neon Bible" as my 3rd favorite Arcade Fire album. I still like it in its current form but "all time classic" seems like a big stretch to me.

    Ding-, ding ding!

There's some real trash on Reflektor. Like "Flashbulb Eyes," or "Porno." But it also has four of the best AF tracks ever, including "Afterlife" and the title track. And of course, Orpheus and Eurydice.

Why? Had you burned out on them and decided it's time to pick it back up?

Or is there something new happening with the band?
