It's definitely a Christmas music listening weekend. Starting off with Tinsel and Lights from Tracey Thorn. A truly nice Xmas LP.

Every year I listen to 2 country Christmas programs on the Internet:

"Eagle Country Hall of Fame (with Dick Storm)" out of Hancock, Michigan in the good ol' Upper Peninsula/Copper Country (listening to it right now, and it repeats again tomorrow morning at 9 am ET)
    http://www.keepitintheup.com/eagle-country.html

and "Good 'n' Country (with Ken Hippler)" at 4 pm ET out of Minneapolis, Minnesota (and is archived on the KFAI website for 2 weeks)

I love the version of "Someday at Christmas" on this album. I also have an original pressing. It's Michael at his "I'll Be There" prime peak.

Any doo-wop lovers out there? I saw this group (Little Isidore & The Inquisitors) many times in the 1990's and they put a big smile on my face every time. They had 4 singers that could sing lead and their background singing amazing. Little Isidore was actually David Forman, who recorded a solo album in the 70's. He wrote the tune "A-Train Lady" for Mink DeVille. I could go on and on about this guy and this group. Here's their Christmas song. It was featured in the Jim Carrey 'Grinch' movie.

Some songs are never heard on the radio, but should be! I never get tired of this upbeat song which just feels like winter with its killer arrangement...melodic bass, guitar and piano intertwining with the vocal. Great lyrics also.

The title track from Bobby Vee's 2003 CD Up North December. Very hard to find but great CD.

I just heard the worst Christmas song ever. Barbra Streisand's jingle bells where she takes it annoyingly fast and drops in a hardehar reference to fanny Brice. Ugh

I started off by playing Carols 2 from Andrew Parrot and the Taverner Consort, Choir & Players. Later I spun the Rat Pack Christmas, Merle Haggard's Hag's Christmas which I was not enjoying and pulled before it ended. Presently the Beach Boys Christmas Harmonies is in the payer. Before all is said and done I'll get to Christmas discs by The Players (Phil Manzanera, et al), Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson and Christmas mix discs made by friends.

In the recent issue of Classic Rock Magazine, they did the buyers guide to HEART; and guess which album got the AVOID?

The above 1998 album was called a turkey, and that it sounded like they've had too many eggnog's.

I'm looking for a great female rendition of I'll Be Home for Christmas. Any recommendations? Sorry, but Bing and Perry don't cut it for me on this one. I need a woman. :)
