This will be Marilyn Manson's ninth album and I really like his new song 'Third Day of a Seven Day Binge':

I think it feels mature and fresh at the same time, a new sound for the Reverend.

What's the difference between a pale emperor and a thin white duke? ;)

According to Amazon the Deluxe Version will have "An 8-panel soft pack with a sand paper-grit front and back cover. Features a black polycarbonate disc with thermographic reveal ink print. Includes three bonus tracks plus exclusive interior photos by Nicholas Cope."

Deep Six is the best new MM song in a while. I had a chance to listen to the Pale Emperor, and there are some stellar tracks on it for sure.

The single I heard on Spotify sounded pretty good. Unfortunately my internet connection was so bad it kept cutting in/out.

Hahaha. I was this thinking the same thing. Manson DID originally sign on Reznor's Nothing label.

I'm preparing to be extremely shocked.

The Pale Emperor is similar to Born Villain. You won't be 'extremely shocked.' I enjoy it, but have obvious bias as a MM fan in general.

I keep thinking the center of the new MM logo is the youtube pause button.

I really like the first single. I didn't care for Born Villain, really, so I'm hoping for something better. Off the strength of the first song, I ordered the deluxe vinyl from Kingsroad. Amazon now lists the deluxe for the same price so that tells me the $16.99 black vinyl might have a standard LP jacket and regular weight vinyl. Being a big fan of Mechanical Animals, I'm tempering my expectations, but I can't help but hear some similarities between the first single and that album.

What is the best MM album to start off with?

It depends on your taste, but I think a good argument could be made for either Antichrist Superstar or Mechanical Animals. both are MM, but AS is much more "90's NIN" sounding, and MA is much more "70's Sci-Fi Glam" sounding. It was actually the STRONG Bowie influence in MA that ultimately hooked me in on this band and helped me to better appreciate them.

Yeah I know the various songs/hits and the album with Heart Shaped Glasses but as far as actual other albums go I don't think I'm very familiar with them.

The 70s glam sounds more my style so I will start with that.

I haven't been paying attention to MM since being pretty disappointed by the underwhelming "Eat Me, Drink Me" but hearing the live version of the new single with Billy Corgan that someone posted on the Smashing Pumpkins thread caught my ear.

AS and MA are both fantastic, each in their own way as you mentioned.
However, PoaAF is the rarest and the easiest to suck you in I think. Very catchy riffs...and the lyrics

Another vote for Antichrist Superstar. I think it's his best.

I used to keep up with Manson's output, but I can't be bothered anymore. His music has become trite and tiresome much like the image he still attempts to maintain years after it's viable.
