I'm a huge fan of Hank Jones but that doesn't make your comment untrue. I can't explain why I don't post him more than I do but I went through a serious vertical integration of Hank Jones back in the late 80s/early90s and bought truck loads of his music. Japan loves him and I've been eyeing several Japan only albums at CDJapan but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I almost got to see him a couple of times including having tickets in hand and showed up at the box office to find out that Hank had to cancel due to Elvin's funeral. What could you say about that? Kenny Barron stepped in but I declined after a little thought. We got our refund and went to dinner and went home after that I think. I was so disappointed that even though Kenny is a fine pianist that I like a lot but I have seen him multiple times and the shock of not seeing Hank was too much to bare. So,eti,es I regret not staying for the music but that was my last chance to see him.

Based on the players feature in this album, I would buy it without hesitation. Just wondering what kind of style they play?

Pretty difficult to label this one. Henry Kaiser also makes an appearance on guitar. SQ is excellent. AMG says it best.

Oh how I've tried to like Tom Waitts over the decades. Just has never happened. That's cool.

Thanks for the link. Based on what this tune sounds, it's easier to listen to than I expected. It's available in Amazon.jp, guess I will buy it soon.

Live at Birdland was my first Trane album and I was sort of ready for it. I didn't get all of it but there was enough for me to hold on to and repeated listening allowed the music to get inside of me and I eventually figured it out. I had to go back to Prestige to do it.

I only have a few Christmas records but this may be my favorite. They improvise so much on the the themes that it is easy to forget you're listening to Christmas music sometimes.
