LOL, it looks like this is an impossible thread...For every album that somene says this one is underrated, somebody else says it's overrated... Good luck sorting it out :tiphat:

Voodoo is easily my favorite post Tat album, especially if one considers all the related B-sides.

Satanic Majesties, Between the Buttons and Black and Blue are three I adore more than most of the others save Beggars.

Now! for me as well. Great covers of blues and R&B; You Can't Catch Me, Mona, Down Home Girl, etc. I love this record just as much as the big 5 (I count Ya-Ya's).

Undercover (1993) the last good one.

Interesting insights on Emotional Rescue. Glad to see a mention of "Where The Boys Go", a gritty Stones rocker that sounds great with the volume cranked.

Undercover would be 1983. I like your choice though!

"Goat's Head Soup" and "Between The Buttons" and perhaps "Black And Blue".
    Those are eclectic albums.
Have little love for "It's Only Rock And Roll", "Emotional Rescue" or "Undercover" - Stones by numbers.

How does it sound? I'm considering the blu-ray.

I think Undercover gets a bad rap.

Look, I'm sure the Blu-ray will sound fine (I've only seen it in a theatre), but there are far better sounding Stones shows than this.

Somebody else may have a differing opinion of course.

I have to agree with the OP. 'Goats Head Soup' is one of my absolute favourite Stones' albums. I've long maintained that '100 years ago' is a Stones classic: brilliant song construction, awesome guitar playing by Mick Taylor, storyline lyrics by Mick Jagger. 'Went out walking through the woods the other day ..... Don't you think it's sometimes wise not to grow up.'

I think you nailed it with "Goat's Head Soup"..

But "Satanic Majesty" isn't really underrated - it's more divisive.

    And yes, I love it.

I'll add a vote for "Voodoo Lounge" - not sure how fans see it today, but I consider it a classic (and their final classic to me).

I actually prefer It's Only Rock 'N' Roll to Goats Head Soup.

A friend of mine is of the same view. We often have very entertaining debates over a few drinks about the various strengths (and weaknesses) of each album. And it's a great reason to play each album in full...just for arguments sake!

The is an, umm, unofficial version of 'Voodoo' that i like even better [sonics & selection]:

IMO, if there were an official "Box Set" me thinks 'Voodoo' might be held in higher regard.

Goats Head Soup, because I think it should be considered the last album of the classic run that starts with Beggars.
