I have the TEAC P/70 (Red Book CD only) which is now some nine years old. I very occasionally get a very quiet clicking sound when a disc is turning, only audible when no music is playing.

Other then that the only problem I've had, on two occasions, was when a disc got stuck in the mechanism. I had to unscrew the top cover and try and lever it out. I was told that some discs are slightly tight and the solution is just to run a pencil or similar round stick on the inside of the disc for a short time. It seems that's just enough to get the edge of it.

Well, here's an interesting development: I ended up replacing my Marantz/Parasound combo with a Pass Labs INT-150! Now I hear even more details.
