It's funny -- I don't remember the first 45 or LP that I bought. My parents discovered that I had a fascination with records when I was about three, and they started buying me 45s and LPs when I was that young. They bought a 12-LP collection of Disney soundtracks when I was maybe four years old, but I had other LPs and some book-and-record sets even before then.

The first LP I remember actually wanting was the soundtrack to The Sound of Music. I was given that for Christmas when I was maybe seven years old. But I honestly don't remember the first record I bought with my own money.

I do remember my first CDs, though. I bought my first CD player around the end of 1984, and I bought four CDs that same day -- two Carpenters CDs (The Singles: 1969-1973 and Voice of the Heart) and two Olivia Newton-John CDs (Greatest Hits Vols. 1 & 2). That was a very exciting day!

CD: 'Hat Full Of Stars'- Cyndi Lauper (I didn't get into CDs for a long time; I was and still am a vinyl lover, but this was an album I wanted that was not available on vinyl.) I bought it and got a friend to put it onto tape for me because I still did not have a CD player...finally bought one in late 1993!

I can't really remember my first lp, it's a toss up between a soundtrack and a collection of horror themed songs like Purple People Eater and Witch doctor and stuff like that. The first 45 was some Elvis and Chuck Berry sides on the brown and orange Collectables line. First cd was Sgt. Peppers.
