For the longest time, at least on my cable system, TCM HD has been showing (mostly sub-par) standard definition, window boxed transfers of pretty much everything. Just recently, more and more appears to be actual HD transfers. Hooray! Is this a change at TCM or was my local cable screwing up the image?

My TW feed has had TCM in HD for some time. Cannot say if everything they present is an HD product, but the framing is usually correct. I think your system just switched TCM over.

The HD channel has been available here for several years now. I just refuse to pay for sub par programming overall, so I downgraded all the way to basic, then quit watching TV altogether a year ago. Not even local news, nothing.
I watch Blu rays, and DVDs on my 1080p HD TV.
TCM was my only regret until I remembered...I own maybe 60% of the films they show anyway on disc ! I was surprised when the recent Blu ray of Double Indemnity features a Robert Osborne introduction !!! :agree:
