Oh my God. That's so sad - one of the truly great musicians of our time. He will not be forgotten.

  5. A great white soul singer is gone. I will miss him every time I hear someone other than him or Ringo sing:
What would you think if I sang out of tune
Would you stand up and walk out on me?

I'm going to say this with no regret, but there will only ever be one Joe Cocker, he was the real deal and I will never forget listening to his self titled A&M album, with my older brother, when I was very young and knowing even at that age, that "Delta Lady" was something special. Joe brought his magic to Billy Preston's, "You Are So Beautiful", same with The Beatles "With A Little Help" and "She Came In The Bathroom Window".

Rest In Peace, Joe and thank you for a lot of great musical memories!

I leave all of you tonight with his great cover of Randy Newman's "Every Time It Rains", which kills me every time I play it, because it was so beautiful!

I've only ever heard his Beatles cover, but wow.

    Thank you SO much.

Listened to that live performance posted on the first page and got massive chills on the second chorus. Just incredible.

Wow. Great performance on both parts. I hadn't heard that before. What album is it from?

RIP Joe. Your Woodstock performance will forever be burned in my brain. I love that homemade tie-dye shirt you wore in that movie.

That performance from the Mad Dogs film was shot in Mpls at the opening of The Depot, which was renamed First Ave about 10 years later. I didn't see the Depot show, too young by a couple years, but he returned and played First Ave in '94 and it was tremendous. One of my favorite singers. He still gives me chills. RIP Joe Cocker.

Rock on Joe. It may appear to be shocking to some, but given his long history with drugs and alcohol, he did well to get to 70.

RIP Joe Cocker, Sheffield boy. I will listen to WALHFMF, S/T, and Mad Dogs & Englishmen tonight. Plus anything else I have. Loved his voice and those albums in particular.

I grew up in my teens watching The Wonder Years and of course his rendition of "With A Little Help From My Friends" during the intro.

    RIP :(

Big comeback for him, sadly it was short lived. People think Rod Stewart is the original British soul singer, wrong, it was Joe.
