Edgar Froese's AQUA one of the few records that uses the "ARTIFICIAL HEAD SYSTEM".Truly truly holographic 3D sound. If there was only one record made to be heard via headphones this is the one. R.I.P Edgar Froese.
Anything by Bjork, I'm enjoying her latest on my cans. I recommend George Michael actually. Not an obvious choice, but his albums are extremely well produced and often have a lot going on in the soundstage, not always noticeable with regular speakers. I had his album Older on with my Senns the other day and was quite taken aback.
Really dig some electronic music on headphones: Eskimo Recordings - Blue, Pink & Green Collection. The majority of tracks have decent mastering. After Dark 2 from the Italians Do It Better-label. Also dynamic mastering. Pink Floyd's "A Foot in the Door"-compilation Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits I & II from Audio Fidelity sounds pretty good Todd Terje - It's Album Time Angel Olsen - Burn Your Fire for No Witness Dans Dans - I/II, 3 Jacques Brel - Infiniment The Band - Greatest Hits Melanie De Biasio - No Deal And They Spoke in Anthems - June Marissa Nadler - July Michael Kiwanuka - Home Again Janelle Monae Ozark Henry - Stay Gold (not a huge fan of his music, but this is a great sounding disc) Yuko - Long Sleeves Cause Accidents An Pierlé - Strange Days Talk Talk - The Colour of Spring OMD - Architecture & Morality Carole King - Carnegie Hall MFSL Blondie - Parallel Lines DCC Moody Blues - Days of Future Past Bob Marley - Legend (the non-remastered one) Hooverphonic - The Magnificent Tree R.E.M. - Automatic for the People The Ting Tings - Super Critical Daft Punk - RAM Flying Horseman - City Same City Jonathan Wilson Mazzy Star's latest album Michael Jackson: Off the Wall / Thriller Angus & Julia Stone - S/T (despite the very poor DR, good sound imo) (Angus Stone's solo album sounds pretty good) Isaac Hayes: Shaft / Hot Buttered Soul MFSL
I was just amazed at how good Blue Oyster Cult's "Secret Treaties" sounds on headphones. There is a lot of detail there that was never immediate to me on loudspeakers.
Literally anything Pink Floyd has done - especially "The Endless River" (which has lots of elements floating around to pick out with headphones) and "The Final Cut", which was Roger's first experiment with holographic 360-degree sound.
The Cure's masterpiece Disintegration always sounds fantastic on headphones, given its layers and soundscapes.
not an entire album but this song on headphones is unreal https://soundcloud.com/the-hard-copies/this-years-enemy
This thread (which is listed fifth in your hall-of-mirrors list) is now by far the longest of all these headphone album threads.
