Picked up a Audio Master Plus of "Breakfast" in the $2.00 bin.It is one of the finest redbook cds I have listened to in a long time.I know the AM+ doesn't really mean anything but those early A&M cds in general seem to have been mastered with some care.

I never got the HFPA of this. For once I made the right decision and got the SACD!

It's a wonderful SACD, isn't it? To think, I only bought it because I was bored!

I actually now have 2 HFPA discs, Can't Slow Down and Reckless! I nearly bought the Grace Jones one after reading good reviews, then I remembered I'd never liked anything she'd done! Would happily get more Blu-ray Audio discs, but they just aren't putting the stuff out I want...

The two you have are excellent! The recent "Songs From the Big Chair" has the fantastic Steven Wilson mixes (including surround) on it. If you like TFF at all it is a no brainer! Another is the most recent Bob Marley Legend...awesome surround mixes there too!

I would have got the HFPA of Big Chair, but had splurged for the SACD a few months before. I'm not bothered about the extras/surround mixes so much, so this will suffice. Not a Marley fan either, so that's out!

Ooh the HFPA Lionel sounds good as virgin vinyl..! :D
(Easily the best Stereo only HFPA I've heard.. with DR to die for, dah-ling!)

I've got 14 or so now, they're certainly hit or miss. Me likey these ones:
    The Who-Quadrophenia
    Nat King Cole-The Extraordinary
    George Michael-Symphonica
    Beck-Sea Change
    Genesis-Selling England By The Pound
    Rolling Stones-Let It Bleed
Stevie Wonder-Songs In The Key Of Life
    Lionel Ritchie-Can't Slow Down
    Brian Adams-Reckless
Tears For Fears-Songs From The Big Chair (probably my favourite so far).

I was thinking the other day, I've got a half dozen or more blu ray audio discs that are NOT HFPAs, and every one is stellar, so I won't blame the format on ones that haven't turned out so well...

I wish I'd have hung around for the Blu Ray Audio version of Songs From The Big Chair.. I got the SACD upon release last year. It's very good, but people seem to think the BRA has the edge. I'm NOT buying it again, though.:D

The BRA does have the edge. My MOFI sounds way better than the SACD.

So, I've actually got one of the worst editions?!:D

The SACD is a bright bugger, though. It took me a while to get used to it..

For what it's worth, the SHM-SACD of Songs From The Big Chair is one of my favorite discs. Great sound, clear and very true to the original album I grew up on.

I do have the blu ray as well, but I'm not that much into either surround or the new stereo remix, so I tend to opt for the SACD each time.

It's been out of print for some time now, so I can't see its value decreasing either :)

    Didn't realise SFTBC was OOP....

The only SACD I've seen go OOP (almost) as quickly as Breakfast In America was the Carpenters Singles 1969-1973.

Isn't it ironic that we only got one Supertramp and one Carpenters title released when they sold so well?

I know. Especially considering how many times the Carpenters back catalogue has been reissued on SHM CD.

I was hoping The Singles was the start of all the studio albums coming to the format...

    Me too.

The Carpenters recordings begs to be issued on a higher resolution format than CD; the voice of Karen and pretty good A&M studio recordings.

Hopefully they're putting them together now as we write!

I'd kill for Horizon and A Song For You on SACD...

I'd love to see Universal release a Carpenters SACD box set. With all the limited edition Carpenters CD box sets they've released in Japan, you would think they would give us an SACD box set. I have no doubt that it would sell well (and be swell). :)

The Carpenters must be one of the most re-released acts in Japanese CD history! As you'll know, a SACD of The Singles 1974-78 was set for release only to be cancelled at the last minute. I was hoping the reason was that Richard was working on the studio albums instead..

Sadly, as I write, I have nothing to back up this theory..

What is the difference between this, "SHM-SACD of Breakfast of America" and this one "Breakfast in America SACD coming out August 24th?
