Looks like an official announcement to me, and people look to be taking it that way.

Seems like if it is true that the music news sites out there would be all over the story.

"You kids don't know Grand Funk? The wild shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? The competent drumwork of Don Brewer? Oh, man!"

That's what I was thinking. That's kind of a lousy thing to put on the Facebook page, getting the Facebook fans all excited, if it isn't true.

  8. Perhaps their silence reflects how newsworthy a GFR reunion is these days.

I hope not. Farner's been ripped off enough.

    I doubt it seriously.

That is certainly a fair consideration. As well as some wise insight.

    It'll be interesting to see.
Brewer wraps up touring with Bob Seger in late March.
Seger says he may do some summer dates but he says that depends on what Don decides to do this summer.

Not to mention they already reunited once.

My only thought on this is, well, I hope Bruce Kulick finds another steady gig.

    Life is short.

    Ideally, the following would happen:

    1. Mark would be back in the band, has his share of the corporation back. Don and Mel get on their knees and do a bit of lip chapping and apologizing.
    2. Bygones are bygones.
    3. Everyone is happy.
    4. They reunite, tour, record a cd and dvd.

If they want, bring back Craig Frost for a tour.

I think none of this will happen.
At best I suspect they are all thinking about their heirs and the massive potential to turn a huge buck playing to extremely large high paying audiences instead of doing the festival circuit.
Even the worst of enemies see common ground sometimes, and mountains of money can be a huge motivator for civil mutual toleration.
Which, whatever works for everyones best interest...............
If they do it, they win, the fans win, their management companies win, and it is all upside, no matter what demons are still locked in the chest.

I saw him on the Happy Together Tour in August, using that tour's backing band. He sounded great.

I saw Farner in 2011. The set was all Grand Funk, with one solo song that sounded like them (I believe it was about his political views as opposed to his religious). He sounded incredible and had a great band behind him.
