Lonson I'm in the kitchen with the Tombstone Blues

I'm not. I have in the past found McFarlane about as funny as pink eye. And I've never been a Stewart fan really.

Hard to accept Patrick Stewart in a comedic personna.

I haven't seen 'funny drug-and-alcahol abusers' on TV since "Absolutely Fabulous"....
That's some pretty big shoes to fill.

Oh, they've given him some really funny lines on "American Dad"

I guess my understanding of him as an actor - Captain Picard - creates a barrier for me.

I just perceive him as a serious actor - that could evolve.

I think MacFarlane is very bright and a comic genius when it comes to gags and short-form skits, rather than long-form media like feature length movies (which are often funny in parts, but have trouble sustaining the mirth throughout).

I think his anarchinc, in-your-face sense of humor would be an excellent match to Stewart's dean-pan Shakespearean delivery (much like Andre Braugher in Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

Stewart had some hilarious moments on TNG. His Henry Kissinger impression in Timescape (season 6) is priceless.

Also, don't forget him in the "Fourth Reich Bank of Hamburg" segment from L.A. Story. "You zink with a financial portfolio like zat, you can have zee duck? You can haz zee chicken!"

    He did great on "Extras".

He is hilarious as Stan's CIA boss Bullock on American Dad. The episode where he is in a relationship with Stan's daughter Hailey was classic:

May I have some Gatorade? I'm afraid I left all my electrolytes with your daughter.

  16. For what it's worth, Stewart has also admitted to being a big Beavis and Butthead fan.

Mr. Stewart was also great on Frasier ("The Doctor is Out").

I guess I have a mindset of him as an actor for serious roles.

  21. Understood. But I've seen his funny side of acting and it's quite good. Remember for years nobody knew Leslie Nielson was funny ? Everyone assumed he was destined to be a mediocre B TV actor forever.

Which is exactly why he should be hilarious if he delivers zingers that you wouldn't expect someone like him to deliver. He has form for comedy (as others have noted), so it'll come down to the script.

Some of his lines on American Dad (a show I don't really much care for) are fantastic. Partially because they are, indeed, funny, and partially because you know who's saying them.

    And then there's this:
