Oh yes. It sounds noticeably "better" than the other version I have.

Speaking of frisell, I forgot to mention that he is joining Charles Lloyd as part of a quartet in April-I will be going to see that show, as well...

Nice - saw this group with Frisell at the Chicago Jazz Fest last year (I think it was last year).

Speaking of cool guitars, enjoying this new one from MoonJune:

    Wow, that's a killer track!

The track you provided sounds a lot freer than what I hear in Bull Trout. Please correct me if I am wrong as I haven't listened to Bull Trout for a long time. Is the whole album also like this?

Oh yeah, the rest of the album (it's only four tracks) is fantastic! The 20-minute title track is especially smokin' but the whole album cooks. I highly recommend this one!

Yes this one is more out and the playing is soooo fiery! Lots of Coltrane worship going on and the drumming, in particular, is awesome which stands to reason as the mighty Moriyama, of Yosuke Yamashito Trio fame, is pounding the skins on this date. As much as I love Togashi's work on Bull Trout, I think Moriyama is a better fit with the tunes here. He takes a solo on the title track that burns from start to finish!

Don't get me wrong, I think both Bull Trout and Yamame are excellent recordings but I have to give a slight edge to Kiso. It just seems to gel better as an album and I LOVE the playing but with a band this incredible I guess that kinda goes without saying! :pleased:

Myra Melford Extended Ensemble, EVEN THE SOUNDS SHINE (Hatology). Beguiling music, challenging but in an inviting way, recorded live in 1994. Pianist and composer Melford was joined by Dave Douglas trumpet, Marty Ehrlich clarinet and alto sax, Lindsey Horner bass, Reggie Nicholson drums. Among other things, this recording brings back for me just how much Dave Douglas was getting around in the mid-1990s. With 20 years hindsight, he was on a remarkably high proportion of the classic recordings from the era, and with quite an array of different collaborators (come to think of it, not much has changed for Douglas in that regard!).

He's definitely what I would call a "restless spirit" Lives down the road from me, but I doubt he's ever home.

This is such a great album and well recorded too imho of course.

This one got the rare flip to the other side to play both sides. I usually play one side of a record I post about but sometimes a record will be extra special or just scratch that particular itch so it requires a flip. I haven't p,ahed this in a while so it was nice getting to know it again. I probably haven't p,ahed ot with my current cartridge set jp which is over a hear old. That would explain a lot.
