As I did not grow up listening to Bread (before my time), I just assumed that Anthology of Bread was their first compilation. It's the first one I saw years ago, and the cover looks '70s.

Always enjoy the finer details. Thanks, Steve.

Might we also hear from Gus Skinas who worked on the surround version?

SO looking forward to this one, Steve. "On the Waters" was one of the first LP's I bought when I got my first real stereo and it never failed to satisfy. In fact, I still pull that one out when I'm testing new (to me) speakers. I just picked up a vintage pair of a/d/s the other day and Bread sounds SO good on them. Now all I have to do is collect enough pop bottles to get the disc!

Is it all about the mastering? Or all about the music?

Now listen, while I'm sure that Steve did his usual great mastering on this SACD, Bread's catalog, as I've been saying all along, already sounded amazing to my ears, so I'm not expecting any earth shaking differences with this one to be honest. As for the original "The Best Of Bread" album, as it was before that 2001 reissue on CD, with it's 12 tracks, it was nearly flawless in the entertaining department. The thing is, Bread continued on for a short while longer and gave us a lot more classics along the way, so, in this rare case, it IS about the music, rather than the mastering and these knuckleheads that are saying that "The Guitar Man" isn't that worthy, are plain C-R-A-Z-Y, in my opinion! "Guitar Man" is probably my all-time favorite by them and it always sends chills up my spine, when that long ending comes in, with the orchestra, where David sings "Got to play ... fade away"..., just beautiful!

.. and sell it for twice what it cost when it goes OOP then use the money to buy two of something I like.

If I like something I try and buy two copies [one to keep one to sell]

In the case of ones I don't like but beleive will go up in value when they go OOP I will buy a single copy.

Have to do something to feed the sacd addiction.

Steve....Looking forward to this release in its original form and new Mastering. The only bread CD missing now is The Best of Bread Vol. 2. Any chance for this in the future?

Amazon has this bumped to mid March now! :thumbsdow

So, now my Christmas gifts were ruined (Guess Who and Blood, Sweat & Tears SACD's, both originally due ate the end of December) and now my birthday gift in February (Bread SACD). Audio Fidelity is quickly becoming the new Mobile Fidelity with bumped release dates!

There was a reason. 45 years ? C'mon, I'd have done something about that by now. Turns out the reason is a Bread song here or there occasionally, fine. To think " hey, I'd like to hear some Bread," it's never happened.
So, I'll be passing, but for those of you getting this, enjoy.

Really? The difference btw AF and MFSL... maybe a delay of one month and not years like Mofi. AF don't announce titles... cancelled later by Mofi. The release philosophy by Mofi and AP isthe worst.

Perhaps Audio Fidelity, Analogue Productions and Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs should join together and build their own SACD pressing plant. No more delays!

The problem is not the pressing plant. Unless they not pay their bills...

I remember back in the late 80s and the 90s when MFSL released Gold CDs in spades…they announced forthcoming releases in Stereophile magazine, and the CDs always released as advertised (with only a few exceptions).
