Well, if you don't care, then there's no point in continuing the discussion. Facts be damned.

I think you're missing my point. The reason these newer bands copied Ozzy and Dio and others is because they were unique.

It's gotta be Axl Rose. I know someone already mentioned him. Miss the old Guns n' Roses stuff.

IMO, Axl Rose sounds like the coked up Ozzy (of the late 70's). I bet young William (a.k.a. Axl) played those Sabbath records growing up.

I recently came across a four disc Black Sabbath box (Castle '96) and the final disc had a number of different singers, and ALL of them after Ian Gillan sounded like Dio knockoffs with that awful Heavy Metal Broadway style....apart from Glenn Hughes who frankly sounded tired and blue. I also noticed that none of the singers sounded like Ian Gillan. Doesn't that make him truly unique or is his style too tricky to emulate?

By the way, that 1996 box was awful sounding. Too bright.

No, I got that, but there is the possibility that these singers just naturally sound like that and it's not a matter of them copying.

Matthew Barlow (ex-Iced Earth) is a dead ringer for Paul.

Wow, I remember them now. I had an album of them. Edwin from I Mother Earth sounded like Perry, too, sometimes now that I think about it.

Not on The Dark Saga. There are times on that album when I swear it could be Paul even in the upper registers.

Ozzy is my favorite unique vocalist, and Layne Staley's vocal harmonies with Jerry Cantrell are unbelievable

Anna Meek of Catapilla. Punkish vocals were commonplace in the late seventies — but in 1971?
