Wow - that is very fine. It was not obvious from your previous posts.

Brian do you adjust the crossover EQ depending on the music, mood, etc?

    Congrat!

I knew Mr. Shindo personally, since my parents house in Japan was 1 minute walk from his house.
Tamura transformer factory (closed) was also 3 min distance.
He was such an interesting person, rather stubborn in a good way, and kept a distance from Japanese mainstream audiophile circle.
Japan's most influential audiophile magazine, Stereo Sound had been almost completely ignored his existence.

No. Hadn't even really thought about that.

Wow, that's cool. Did you get to sample his goodies often?

I had a Thiel Dealer in town that had that trade up deal. I had trade in within a few years and I got full purchase credit. It sure was a means to an end.

    I did not know that.

    Not at all.
My parents told me he is a famous professional amp builder, but I was not even a serious audiophile, so I actually thought he was nothing but crazy.
It is very recently that I realize that he is the world famous amp builder. I'm quite surprised.

That is sad. You probably could've gotten the education of a lifetime.

True.. oh, but actually he moved to my parents neighborhood after I left their house. My parents introduced him.

Brian- think about how far you have come in a relatively short time! Enjoy your new preamp. I'm very glad to read that you are spending your time enjoying your system rather than troubleshooting it.

Shindo ? What a bunch of rubble, wouldn't even allow someone to leave it in my driveway !

Just kidding Brian, great stuff, one of the top 3 or 4 tube manufacturers in my books, enjoy.

When Brian upgrades to the Latours, that's a whole new ballgame, sonically: field-coil drivers. Pretty magical.

    Tell me about it!!!

Man, when I think back about those many months of frustration... well, I just don't think about them. Glad you turned me onto this stuff! I'm forever indebted. :)

p.s. I guess I could also be pissed at how much money I've spent thanks to you. Luckily, I'm happy with every cent.

Yeah, my CAT JL1 mono's actually have gold plate on them. So it is no surprise I like the way the Shindo and MBL stuff looks.

Yup, it's a lot of money to spend but the sticker shock wears off quickly. Can you really think of a better way to spend money ? :pineapple:

I love the look of Shindo gear and I think green and gold make a nice color combination and the script font looks elegant. The wood grain in those speakers is really nice!

It really adds to the enjoyment of one's life when you create an environment that you fond aesthetically pleasing and enjoy spending time in. I can imagine you having many enjoyable evenings relaxing in that room listening to music.

I can't think of a better investment one could make.

And, from what I can tell, far less depreciation than most high end gear.

That's a great point. And both my Shindo speakers and pre-amp were used (though I'd date you to find proof of that even with a magnifying glass), so they probably wouldn't lose any value.

If I happen to pass unexpectedly, hopefully one of you guys will let my girl know how much this stuff really costs so she doesn't sell it for peanuts. ;)
