She and Grace Jones used to scare me to death when I was little. They were often the antagonists in my nightmares. But Volta is special to me :).

vespertine....that album just flows beautifully and the whole album is strong...even though its a double lp.
i have the surround dvd-audio and everytime i put it on my jaw drops.

the rest of my favorites in order are:
    2. homogenic
    3. post
    4. biophilia
    5. debut

i havnt fully digested vulnicura so i wont list it.

    dont care much for medulla/selma songs/drawing restraint9/volta
they are decent and all have a great song or two though.

Homogenic, by a huge margin, with Post and Volta somewhere behind. Haven't yet heard the new one though although I'm very eager to...

Love all of her stuff, but that one is a cut above the rest IMO. "Hyper-Ballad" is probably my favorite song of hers.

Vespertine, by a hair over Homogenic.

    I clump them like this:
    Vespertine
    Homogenic

    Post
    Biophilia

    Debut
    Medulla

    Volta

    Vulnicura
is too early to place, but probably in the second bracket with Post & Biophilia at this point. Selmasongs would go with Debut & Medulla - but not as good as either - and Drawing Restraint would go down underneath Volta.

Once this poll has run its course, we should do the same for her 'other' releases: the two soundtrack albums, the live box albums, Voltaic, Telegram, Bastards, etc...

One day you'll have a thread I might actually be able to contribute to constructively. Odds have to be favorable, given the daily amount of threads started.

Homogenic. With Vespertine a close second. But man is Vulnicura killing me with each listen. One day I may say Vulnicura is my favorite.

Post, but I haven't clicked the button yet. Vespertine is so close.

Haven't purchased Vulnicura yet. Have to say I did not get Volta at all. Another shout out for Gling-Glo.

Vespertine for me, absolutely. Homogenic was my favourite until Vespertine was released and my jaw still drops whenever I listen to it...particularly in surround sound. I think it is an amazingly beautiful and intricate album and I never tire of diving into it. I don't actually dislike any of Bjork's albums but I probably tend to listen to Volta and Medulla the least. Her latest one is honestly some of the most beautiful work since Vespertine in my opinion. She never ceases to amaze and excite me! :goodie:

Her first three albums are masterpieces. Vespertine is beautiful, and I might end considering it another masterpiece. Medúlla is a very interesting experience. The rest of her discography doesn't do much for me, but I wish she keeps making music for many decades more.

I actually listen to it fairly regularly, sometimes just to hear her sweet version of 'The Fool On The Hill'. It isn't a classic like her other albums, but I do enjoy it in the same way that I enjoy early Bowie songs like 'The Laughing Gnome'.

I used to think Homogenic was her masterpiece - and it is a brilliant record and probably her most cohesive statement - but Post has "Hyper-Ballad", which is probably her single greatest creation and arguably the theme song of the whole dot com boom. Debut is still as fresh and fun as the day it dropped. Her work became something of a chore after Homogenic. Vespertine has its moments but never gels, and I've found the subsequent discs largely impenetrable.

    Ranked:

    Post
    Homogenic
    Debut
    Vespertine
    Volta
    Medulla

I haven't bothered with Biophilia yet. The new one intrigues me a bit.

Has it really been more than a decade since Medulla was released? Shocking.

Disappointingly, she followed the trail blazed by Kate Bush and Tori Amos, and after producing her masterpiece proceeded to disappear up her own *sshole on the subsequent releases, until there was nothing left to see. ***POOF***

Debut is my favorite. It's so catchy and addictive, with great energy. Then Post would be a close 2nd. After that she really lost me. The slower, dramatic, off-kilter stuff doesn't really do anything for me at all. Although I do still enjoy the odd song or two from each successive album. Have yet to listen to Vulnicura, but people seem to really like it so I plan to do so shortly.
