    Hard to argue.
I wasn't' really thinking about jazz or classical (or any instrumental music).

A long play album that is untouchable...?...this one fits those parameters for it's time, it's no DSOTM but it works in a different vein to achieve the same cohesive results. An album that delights from beginning to end.

Sometimes I think the 'so called' weaker cuts on classic albums give them character and make them more interesting. Except for 'There's a World' on Harvest. Should have went with the Massey Hall cut for that one.

I think of John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Van Morrison's Astral Week as pretty damn good, no real flaws (maybe some of the screaming in the Lennon, but you get used to it, and he does have his own National Lampoon Parody, though you could argue that it is more of a parody of the Rolling Stone Interviews Lennon did at the time).

I generally avoid these kinds of threads on these forums because my taste is different than a lot of people's here. But I will offer this.

Absolutely. I was just listening to this album last night. A masterpiece. Truly sublime and one of the finest melodic/progressive rock albums ever recorded. It would be a real joy to see this album get the King Crimson-style 40th anniversary two-disc deluxe edition treatment, including a Steve Wilson produced 5.1 mix.

I prefer this over Pet Sounds. And I don't like this!

I happen to agree with their comments entirely. Sloop John B is a horrible song.

I've always disliked Sloop John B but Yellow Submarine is one of worst songs ever created by anyone.

Exactly. No album, group or artist is "untouchable".

Yes, Yellow Submarine is bad but Sloop John B is far worse. From the moment I heard it as a kid and saw it played by Will Robinson round a campfire in Lost In Space I've hated it.

Yes, we will. I accept Pet Sounds has a lofty place in popular music (as does Beethoven's 5th) but it's just not for me. Never has and never will.

To be serious, I've never been able to put my finger on why I don't like it. It's been in my record collection for 40 years (and CD collection for 20) and I bring it out for a revisit every few years but it just doesn't connect with me.

Funnily enough, a handful of friends are the same. It's one of those albums people get or don't.
